PLDT announces Wireless Landline

Listen to article

Looks like Bayantel and Globe are getting some more competition on the wireless landline market. PLDT Landline Plus is the new wireless offering and prices are even more competitive the existing ones.

PLDT Wireless Landline Plus

Phone Unit Cost: Php2,400
Activation Fee: Php600
Monthly Service Fee: Php600
Limitations: 600 call minutes (10 hours) per month, with 120 free SMS
Availability: Nationwide

Bayantel Span
Phone Unit Cost: starts at Php1,995
Activation Fee: none (only 1 month advance required)
Monthly Service Fee: Php699
Bonus: unlimited phone calls to any landline
Availability: NCR, selected regions

PLDT uses Smart’s existing cell networks to operate the wireless landline via GSM. Bayantel and Globe on the other hand works on WCDMA which is why they broadband internet capability. PLDT Wireless Landline does not.

I AM TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH BAYANTEL’S SERVICE. I GOT FULL SIGNAL BUT THE LINE IS CHOPPY TO THE OTHER PARTY. I REALLY DON’T LIKE AS WELL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEIR AGENTS SUCKS! LIAR AND VERY IRRESPONSIBLE LIKE MICHELLE AND CHI AND EDISON. THEY WILL RUIN YOUR DAY TOTALLY. GOOD THING MY ACCOUNT WILL END SOON. I WILL NOT SUBSCRIBE TO ANY BAYAN SERVICE ANYMORE. BAYANTEL SUCKS!!! GO TO HELL.. BAYAN HELL.

We are very happy to have PLDT services in all our houses but this fast 6 months we have been informing personally and by phones in all the areas of PLDT hotline services, etc… but no actions replied. They were telling that they were “prioritize” our complains etc… but NO! we are waiting for them to repair it for 6 months. So i hope this kind of problem will be solved. Not even a reply note or notice…nothing….

I am putting up a business in Metro Manila and need a landline for prospective customers. Noticed that people prefer calling landline than via cellphone.
Bayantel better?

Kawawa naman kaming smart postpaid subscribers. Ginamit nila ang network namin for their landline plus. Ang catch eh ang mura ng calls. Ang daya!

Nakuha ko ito sa isang blog.

•PLDT inadvertently reveals huge profit markup on SMART’s cellular service
•In case you were wondering how SMART can afford those massive advertising campaigns…
•Smart’s prepaid cards are about Php 6.50 per minute rounded to the highest minute
•Smart’s best postpaid plans come to about 4.58 peso per minute but you would would have to pay for 3500 pesos worth. 764 minutes or 12 3/4 hours.
•PLDT now offers what they call a wireless landline but it uses Smart’s cellular service as its carrier.
•PLDTs but they charge only 600 pesos for 600 minutes (10 hours). Even if you go over 600 minutes they still only charge you 1 peso per minute. Local Long distance is 5 pesos. Calling a cell phone is 6.50 per minute which makes me wonder why considering it’s the same system they charge 4.58.
•Even Smart to Smart is still a whopping 3.56
•So net of discussion, Smart and PLDT can still make a profit charging you 1 peso per minute, and yet for reasons that seem wholly arbitrary they will charge you 4-7 pesos per minute. A 300-700% markup just because its called a cell phone
•They must really think the public is stupid
•Now in an act of unbridled arrogance, PLDT is offering a SIM that you can put in any cellphone to avail of 50 free 5 minute calls (Say I love you faster honey) and 2 pesos a minute there after.
•The ultimate insult to SMART subscribers is that their current system isn’t configured for lots of calls, mostly its for texting, but with PLDT burdening the system with cheap talk, Smart subscribers will increasingly find good connections to be a thing of the past.
•Join the protest! Switch your cell phones from (not very) SMART to Globe or SUN and show SMART/PLDT that you won’t be jerked around anymore!

BayanSpan is cheap and wise but the billing sucks, my bill arrives after my line has been disconnected and they ask me to pay the full amount without any considerations that the last month of my billing was never consumed because my phone is cut. I am blaming them but they always say “I-check lang po namin sa records namin”.

I was thinking of switching to PLDT pero when I read na limited lang calls nya, what the heck.

Mas gusto ko pang makipag-away sa Bayantel kesa magbayad ng mahal sa PLDT. hehehehehe.

I have tried BAYAN! It’s absolutely useless, even it has full bar signal, still this landline will give you a hard time to reach people’s number. Definitely its not advisable during emergency! Sayang lang pera mo! Just use your cellphone if you have one!

I think the internet rate is P0.30-0.35 per minute use. I am not sure where I read it, maybe in the site above also.

But I am currently connected through SmartBro. And since I’m still within the lock-in period, there’s no use for me to try Bayantel’s internet connection.

hey guys you can describe it to the worst derogatory remark that you can imagine…but experiencing the comfort and easy access to reach you love ones is more important…that a cell phone is limited…

so kudos to this upgrade…but hoping a landline will be made soon….goodluck PLDT…keep up the good works!!!

Don’t know where to put this , but as the text capital of the world, why don’t Smart or Globe make their own cellphone brands to compete with Nokia and Motorola. Mas magiging mura na ang cellphone, madami pang magkaka-trabaho sa Pinas!

* Bayantel and Globe on the other hand works on WCDMA which is why they *

The above statement is incorrect. Bayantel and Globe uses a 3G version of CDMA (There’s a couple of them including CDMA2000, EV-DO and EV-DV. I’m not sure which one Bayantel and Globe uses) which is different from WCDMA. WCDMA is the air interface used by UMTS (3G upgrade of GSM).

Thanks :-)

You know naman here in our country, hardsell lagi, to the expense of creating new words and phrases, even if its an oxymoron or just plain…. you know…

10 hours call per month for PLDT… pretty useless.

I guess that’s the catch for getting nationwide coverage :p
