There was also a study that 34% of internet users can’t distinguish ads from content. That’s huge. Maybe, mostly MSN users?

Which is why “probloggers” need to diversify in terms of revenue streams. Adsense is just an entrypoint. There’s affiliates, direct ads, etc too. I did mention a case about Kates earning more from link ads than Adsense.

Once MSN and Yahoo goes internation with it’s ad network, now we’re looking at more revenue baskets.

Hey “there is no money in blogging” was Marc’s tagline first! Well, I think there’s enough money to pay for your blogging expenses and your “salary” for time spent writing. But that’s it.

But then again, there is the success story of Abe and company. Maybe there can only be a few?

Yuga, I guess users that search through MSN are less technically-inclined?

As more Filipinos are earning better at adsense, we are forgetting Migs’ favorite “there is no money in blogging” tagline. Hehehe. Seriously, problogging+adsense alone is a very dangerous setup as your main source of income. Imagine the horror of getting banned from adsense, or delisted from the major search engines…

Great entry. yes, it looks like the accidental visitors from search engine are the ones that click on the ads. I also attribute it to high rankings of certain keywords in the google search that leads them to the sites.

good entry abe. just so you know, my pro blog’s adsense earnings account for around 50% of my total blog income. the rest comes from network-wide ads plus other sources like chitika (although this has been removed from my site).

whats interesting though is that my adsense earnings seem to be steadily increasing by around 15-20% each month. this is a direct function of increased blog traffic.

since i write about tech, i try to get myself engadeted, gizmodoed or boing-boinged more often to increase site hits. just having one good entry linked to me can actually double my traffic therefore have me earning a bit more.

another interesting thing: problogger did a poll in the recent past about how well adsense has been treating bloggers. link is here:
