If the question is a bit confusing, I’ll restate it — if you search your name in Google, are you happy with the search results?
Let’s call it ego-surfing.
So, let me ask the question again, you okay with your name in the SERPs?
I asked this because if someone is doing a background check on you, they’ll most probably hit Google first. Will the first page of the SERPs tell a good story about you? Or will it reveal a dark past you once had?
So, what are you doing to make a good Google impression?
I think I’m pretty lucky with this. :)
And I think someone out there isn’t so blessed. Bad karma? Hehehe.
Let’s just say, I dominate the SERPs for my name :-)
Not really. Actually, I want my real name to be removed from Search Engines that’s why I decided to use GUrbi instead of my real name. I want a private life… That’s all!
I’ve always talked about this during my talks because it could have implications esp. when applying for new jobs.
Wow, Sarit, I never thought I’d see a Hebrew blog linked from a Filipino one.
I actually don’t like it, but I have no choice. Years of going spare with my own name without thinking of how powerful google might get left me pretty visible on the net.
Not only that, but google somehow know how to direct my name to my blog – and I don’t even use my full name there. I think it’s basing it on old links but I’m not sure. I really didn’t some of the guys from work to find it but they did.
Eh, I’ll get over it.

At least the top result is OK, but the others point to mailing list archives and blog posts I made. Not exactly relevant.

Oh yes, I’m with the top 10 of the 32.3 million Gails of the world :P Search “Gail” or “Gail Dela Cruz,” and the ones relevant to me point to my blog, portfolio, or sites I’ve done.
I guess the only “dark past” I would have been ashamed of would be the designs I’ve made in the 90’s :D

searching my full name “Marhgil Macuha” reveals search results all relevant to me. Ako lang yata ang may pangalang ganyan. Am I happy? Most search results show that I’m a blogger =) Is it beneficial to me? I don’t know.
Am I happy with the search results when searching my name? Yes…because I can’t find anything relevant to me. I’m more concerned with privacy than being famous. I have an extremely common name. Both my first and last names are among the most common so there are millions of results on a search of my name but i’ve never found anything about me personally…lots of interesting things about people who have the same name though.
I’m happy when I search my name because I can see that I’m listed in the highschool where I graduated via namesdatabase and the company where I’m working right now!!! =)
