Hi Guys,

Ive been busy lately with Drupal CMS.

Okay. Anyway, I received a private message this morning to one of the member of the other forum i hang out and... okay enough boring introduction. Lets get it on.

The website im talking about is: Qassia.com (referred to me)

According to their website Qassia just released on January 4, 2008, and i believed its currently in closed beta. That means, you can sign up and view intel if you were referred by someone who is already a member. (Obviously, thats the reason why the ol' lady who send me a PM told me to use her invitation link.)

According to Qassia.com:
"Qassia is fantastic because you get credit for sharing your intelligence. The more credit you earn, the better your websites will rank. And you get a backlink to your website for every intel you add - only Qassia gives you unlimited quality backlinks. Last but not least, Qassia also has the best ad revenue sharing system on the Internet, so in effect you get paid for promoting your websites."

Heres the catch:

For a brief 12-hour period after joining Qassia, you get no less than $500 Qassia dollars per referral (the standard referral commission is $100).
According to their website. You will have 12 hours to promote. Clock is TICKING!!

Wanna join Qassia?
All you need to do is click on my invitation link: hxxp://shareabeer.qassia.com

This article is fundamentally flawed, the google page in question doesn't pass any PR to the sites listed on the page.

The reason is if you see the URL it goes to a google server as a parameter and not as a raw link.

vern, let me clarify m point. That testimonial page can be used by companies and individuals to get a raw PR7 link from Google.com. Whether or not Google realizes it was indirectly selling link is beside the point. My suggestion is Google also put a nofollow tag on all its links, including that page. If one of the companies/individuals there stopped using Google services, we'd have a good idea they were after the link on the testimonial page and not the service itself.

They are not the same thing. Google does not punish other companies that have customer testimonials. No companies with testimonials on their pages do it to gain any value from them. The main difference is the purpose of those links, that is why penalties are handed out on a case by case basis and not built into the automatic PR algorithm. You've blogged about the ethics of PayPerPost before, I don't see how this is any different, except instead of having links on a single post, it is on every page. If you are welling to sell your credibility as you've said, then that is up to you, but I'm sure you are aware of the consequences that it might bring and the wrath that might come from Google.

@ vern - they're the same in the sense that Google did not put a nofollow tag. A Webmaster rule Google is trying to impose on everyone.

Customer testimonials and paid links are so different in their goals that it's senseless to compare them. Companies who have these customer testimonials don't profit from them and those that give customer testimonials don't do it to game Google rankings, nor do they keep buying services from companies to gain PR. The only ones who are so mad about this are those who help this kind of exploitation continue even though their better judgment would tell them otherwise. eh ... as has been said, money makes the world go round ... damn the ethics.

@Yuga, re "Wait ’til it gets its hands on memes, link exchanges, seo contests, writing projects, link campaigns and anything that involves people making use of links for cash, prizes, gaining PageRank, and manipulating search engine results."

Excluding those the run on Javascripts, correct?

Oh. Sorry to hear that Abe.

Me, I'll stick it out with TLA. Since I don't have it on my main personal blog, and this is just a hobby+sideline for me, I think I can risk SERP delisting.

To make a bright side out of this, I hope this shuts down the pay-per-posters as well. Fellow Pinoy bloggers doing PPP etc., nothing personal.
