Blocked and back from ABS-CBN

Just got back from ABS CBN, guesting for Manolo’s The Explainer about the ZTE deal. An hour before that, I also had another taped interview for another show on ANC. The topic was about buying and selling online web properties. Guess the sale of PinoyTopBlogs got their attention.

While using their PCs, I discovered that this blog is blocked from their network. My other blogs are showing fine though. Why, oh why? The MIS people at ABS-CBN doesn’t like surfers reading my blog then.

I think yugatech.com would be in the “productivity breaking” category of the filter.

I think some filters automatically block sites frequently visited by users.

The Show with Manolo was quite successful yuga, and nice way of explaining the basics our senators seem not to get a hang of, what I hate in the show though was some of the stupid questions of the audience, I think it’s time to put 6 units on IT subjects in the school curriculum…

masyado sila natatakot at baka gawan ng poll-survey yung wowowee-SCAM-wilyonaryo and thats a sure sure against them! marami pa silang kalokohan and ayaw nila yung malaman ng mga tao!
yan po ang pagiging dictador, they are trying to dictate the people what to think! pati yung “zte-scam” is blocked dahil mas mahalaga sa kanila yung power ng mga nakapweto ngayun!
this is not being “democratic”… coz media is trying to dictate us what is the “truth” even it is all lies!
      meralco
      abscbn
      maynilad
and others… all they want is to get hold of us pinoys! BS!

I saw most of the show. You and Manolo did a very creditable job trying to explain a complex issue … hats off to you both.

Having built and rebuilt (moving things from inefficient government to secured commercial networks) I don’t think the Philippine government (or any government) has any business building a network like they think the NBN would be … consider the difference between the old, government-run North Toll Road and today’s for-profit NLEX, but hey, everyone has to learn. The intelligent solution would seem to lie in the area of partnering with private industry and “assisting” the expansion of coverage, while running the government’s traffic on a secure “overlay” to the commercial backbone. It’s millions of dollars per year cheaper and it serves both the government and the consumer better.
