[...] For instance, I’m pretty sure my writeup about my Compaq Presario V2617 and my PTB article about the price drop of branded Centrino laptops helped people make a choice about the laptops they buy. And talking about connectivity, Abe has blogged about his experiences using Smart GPRS during his stay in Vigan. Arnold has written about connecting thru Globe’s 3G at PTB. I, too, have tried PLDT’s WeRoam a year back, and the connection was really slow. Don’t forget Smart Bro! Most posts I’ve read about it say its crappy—in strong language, no less (see the Smart WiFi chronicles for links)! [...]

@yuga
if port 80 is open, you can try to enable "http proxy" under connection preferences on your YM.

@lpn
1. login to your router administration then "clone" the mac address (see documentation of your router) of the pc where smart bro is connected.

2. configure your router to be the dhcp server and have all our pcs set to "obtain ip address"

3. connect the smart bro cable to the "wan" (this may vary) of your router then connect other pcs to other ports of the router

Don't use Smart GPRS ... only ports that are open are ports 25, 110, 80 & 8080 among other things ... Yahoo uses port 5050 which is closed to the GPRS ports.

Use Smart Internet Access Point instead.

If you don't have it just set up a new access point with the access point name pointing to "internet".

That should about do it.

P.S. Same goes for globe & sun as well .. the GPRS settings only accesses limited ports since it runs through their proxy servers. Use the Internet instead.
