I’ve been on prepaid since I got a mobile phone ten years ago. The only time I was convince to get into a postpaid plan was when I got an iPhone 3G subscription plan from Globe. And for the last 12 months, I thought it was well worth it.
Yesterday, Globe presented a round-up of their internet services for residential customers. One particular service I only learned of that day was GPON or the Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network, a fiber-to-the-home technology.
As expected, Globe Telecom is finally offering their Duo service to prepaid subscribers. The catch though is that you need to get a new Duo Special SIM Pack which costs Php45 (old prepaid SIM not supported).
I have been getting inquiries from people asking about the peer to peer issues with their Globe DSL. Today, Globe Telecom has issued a formal explanation regarding the issue. See details below:
In a press briefing yesterday afternoon, executives from Globe Telecom formally announced their new Globe Duo service – a mobile and landline number in one SIM.
In a lunch event today, Globe Telecom and Tata Communications announced that their new submarine cable system has been activated and carrying traffic to the Philippines.

Globe Telecom today announced it will reduce the price of iPhone 3G by Php4,000 — that’s for both the 8GB and the 16GB model. That brings the 8GB down to Php33,599 and the 16GB version to Php39,799.
Okay, I think I spoke too soon. Just got this press release from Globe that they renamed their 3G internet service to Globe Broadband Tattoo.
Next Saturday, September 27, Globe is hosting a free event for everyone with a whole day of games, gadgetry and a great phone sale.
When Globe Telecom came out and announced the pricing plans for the iPhone 3G, a lot of people cried foul and declared it too expensive. Some even claims Globe is exploiting the iPhone 3G popularity for charging exorbitant fees on the exclusive iPhone. So I did some digging on Globe’s existing price plans and found out that the Nokia E90 is even more expensive!

In a press launch this afternoon, Globe Telecom announced the opening of a new division aptly named Globe Labs. The new department will embark in innovative projects including the recently concluded 3G Multimedia Challenge.
People have been asking that since Globe Visibility has obviously moved into the flat prepaid and tiered postpaid models, what will happen to subscribers who are on the GV Unlimited plans?
