During a technical briefing on Wednesday, PLDT-Smart Technology Group Head Rolando Peña said that fiber optic technology allows the fixed line network to transmit voice, data, and video over the internet at much higher bandwidths, faster speeds, and better quality. "With 100% of our Metro Manila network now 'fibered', Smart can further improve its range of wireless services and technologies such as LTE, HSPA+, 3G, and even 2G," said Peña. A new poster ad from Smart Bro promotes their broadband speed to be up to 2Mbps. I fired up several internet bandwidth meters, hooked up my Smart Bro Prepaid account and positioned my laptop to get an HSDPA signal. Launched just yesterday, Smart WiFi is a new broadband internet service which allows users to get connected wirelessly thru Smart's cell sites. The only thing you need is an outdoor antenna to serve as transceiver on any of Smart's hundreds of cell sites nationwide.
