Smart sent out an announcement last week that they're upgrading all their Canopy and WiMax subscribers from 1Mbps to 2Mbps while retaining the MSF at Php999. The Smart websites still states 1Mbps so that one need to be updated to reflect the new speed upgrade. Anyone out there using Canopy or WiMax and experience the increase in speed? I think we're a bit fortunate to have 3 competing WiMax providers in the Philippines -- there's Globe, Smart and Liberty Telecoms. But just like the existing 3G networks that have been rolled out for years, WiMax is also dependent on location. I'm not sure if Smart has one but my guess is that they have to do this in order to maintain quality of service. Not sure if Smart or Wi-tribe offers the same. It has been revealed by Smart executives in previous media interviews but no concrete details have been announced yet.
