Looks like PLDT is aggressively selling its DSL service, now with a residential package of Php999 per month (PLDT Plan 999) at speeds of 384Kbps. This is the former bandwidth allocation for their Plan 1995 which is now at 512Kbps.
On top that, their Php788 per month for Smart WiFi is being heavily promoted in the provinces.
The Plan 999 was also an old promo for students only but has now been expanded to cover regular residential subscribers. With the introduction of DSL Plan 999, I think PLDT will soon be upgrading existing subscribers to higher bandwidths. Much more that Globe Telecoms is pushing to 2Mbps for Php2,995 (Explore Gold Plan).
The problem here though is that PLDT is so aggressive in selling broadband connections to potential new customers that it has already forgotten about the existing ones. Just read the comments over at the Smart WiFi entry.
I am sure they know that it’s cheaper to retain new customers than to get new ones. Oh, I forgot they have that 1-year lock-up clause.

kinabitan ako ng pldt dsl plan 999 three days ago. always ako nag check speed, kahit sa pldt play pero hindi pa ko umabot kahit minsan ng 250kbps paiba iba ngayon 83kbps lang ako. ask ko lang kung meron din iba dyan na pareho nagngyayari tulad akin. kasi sabi nila sa ads 384kbps. average speed ko lang siguro 130kbps.

can anyone cofirm me that pldt plan999 is bad? im on a 384Kbps plan 1995 right now. because on my plan they guarranty 80% of the maximun bandwith which sometimes i reach even higher that 384Kbps. is it really the ISP or is it your computer that you used that makes it slow? Because im interested on switching my plan to save money. im considering Plan999 and smart wi-fi. anybody who can help?

dsl is a distance sensitive technology, meaning, naaapektohan cya ng layo mo sa telephone central office, mas malayo mas mabagal, di ko lang alam kung paano malalaman ang layo mo sa location ng central office dahil di ito advertised, di ito depende sa pc, nasa connection talaga yan. Average speed cguro ang 300+ kbps kaya di cla puwedeng kasuhan, sa mga places na malalapit, lumalagpas pa ata ng 300+ kbps. kc sa mga dial-up, ang 56kbps fake din naman, di full 56 nakukuha natin, 33kbps max lang ang kaya itransfer s modem
Hay nako, ok nga ang pldt dsl plan 999 pero inconsistent naman ang connection… dynamic IP lang daw kasi ginagamit nila, according sa isang source na nagsabi sa kin. for example, makakakonek ka sa yahoomail mo ngayon, pero bukas hindi na. the next day ok na naman. nakakainis kasi in teh middle of the chat sa YM, biglang mawawala yung connection mo pero gumagana naman ibang sites. tapos pag labas mo sa shop, magtataka ka kung bakit yang site na inexplore mo sa shop ay gumagana pero sa PC sa bahay mo hinde… haaay, kinukulit ko na nga yung 173 nakakainis na kasi e

having a landline does not guarantee DSL can be installed. even the “check availability” where you input your phone number on their website is not accurate.

sa pagkakaalam ko (please confirm) pareho lang gamit na base station ng smart wifi at pldt mydsl. naku naman talaga tong dalawang damuhong to di na kaya magbigay ng connection kasi sobra na ang traffic sige parin ng sige mga linta talaga irresponsable pa.

guys ok lang ba senyo na panget muna connection nyo? as in sobrang panget na makakaranas kayo ng weeks of no connection at all? pero babawi sila later on? kasi wala pa silang multiplexer?(yung device na pang manage ng heavy traffic pero depende parin kung may available pang frequency)
tapos may “clause” pang ganun? sinisiguro talaga nila na walang bibitaw kasi alam nila magkakaloko loko talaga.
kung may mga taga NTC man dito, napaka unfair diba? tsaka yung clause nila napaka unfair trade practices. basahin nyo terms ng dalawang mokong na to at malalaman nyo kung ano standing nyo pag subscriber na nila kayo

hi i just recently installed a PLDT dsl-wifi 999 and i am in the Region III area (Bulacan) and I will tell you personally from my short experience, this SUCKS! low connectivity always. and dont rely on pldtplay as well as netstat live (they recommended this)

PLDT and Smart… iisa lng yan. Siguro mssbi ko ok lng ung PLDT MyDSL although ang gamit ko is Digitel DSL. Pero ung Wifi at wireless nila, nsa experimental stage pa lang un. Di pa nila na-pperfect yung services nila tpos ni-launch nila. Kumbaga, ung mga nka-subscribe na before eh naging respondents nila sa experiment nila. So, sa ganun mlalaman nila kung ok ba or may problems ung Wifi nila. It turns out na palpak ung service nila. Kawawa tuloy ung mga naunang subscriber tpos may lock-in period pa for 1 year. Sa akin lng, mag-DIGITEL DSL or Globelines Broadband muna kau, guaranteed pramis.
I agree with much of the comments above. The service was ok at first. But since last month, it has been getting slower and slower. Sometimes you can’t even access some sites.
PLDT should really do something about this.

i worked on a call center before as a tech support agent for dial-up and dsl services. Well, kahit po subs ka on certain speed like 384kbps. you’re not guaranteed na maaachieve mo ang speed na to. Subscriber’s distance from central office can greatly affect speed. madalas naman, if subscribed ka on dsl, sa una mabilis. later on sa kakasurf mo dumarami yung cached files or spyware sa pc mo na nakakapagpabagal ng system performance. you may wanna check on this…oooppps, gotta go. ok po ang forum na ‘to. am wondering wat company maganda mag-offer ng wi-fi…

and one thing usually pldt use a modem router so u dont need to buy a router the best way to find out wether ur modem is a just a modem or a modem router is simply get the model seach the net and see if its a modem or a modem router. hehehe isa sa trick nyan eh hanapin mo kung may rest button ung modem mo, pag may reset switch yan malang modem router yan pero di ko rin nilalahat kasi pag na reset mo ung modem mo at naka connect ung computer mo sa modem mo… type this at dos promt “ipconfig” pag may lumabas na ip usually 192.x.x.x or something except 169.x.x.x malamang sure kana na modem router yan kasi by default ang modem router is in router mode pag factory default. the only thing u need to do is get the ip add of ur modem and get the default pass word so u can enter the ur isp pass word and ID para automatic connect na ung modem mo at kung may plano ka mag dagdag ng computer bili kanalang ng switch or hub hehehe i hope I was able to answer some of the question……but pls correct me if iam wrong

hi po. may tatanong lang ako. diba ang DSL plan 999. ang 384Kbps ang bilis daw ito. pero kung magdadownload ako. bakit 30kbps or 35kbps lang. bakit? at bakit pinagawa ako ng pldt user name. pero parang hindi natupad. bakit parang iba ang user at password ko. ang problema ko lang. bakit hindi nasusunod ang speed.
Bagal na ng internet ko
plan 999 pero 112kbps lng sa speed meter nila 
nung bagong customer pa lng ako, nagagamit ko 1.2mb speed. kaya ko mag download ng 170-180 kb per sec sa torrent. ngayon naging 12 kb per sec na lang

i just had a pldt plan 999 connection. And when i download files, the max rate i get is 22kbps! so i thought something must be wrong with my pc. so i formatted it and re installed the OS. And still the same. WTF! where is the 100 to 385 kbps they are saying about? Does anyone out there have the same problem as i?
PLDT mydsl plan 999 is hoax. papasakayin ka lang nila sa first week pero unti unti siyang babagal at mawawala. mamamaga ang daliri mo sa kakatawag sa 172 pero kung ano anong dahilan ang madidinig mo.
wag ka mag alala at babalik siya pagkatapos ng ilang araw…isang linggo kung may kakilala ka sa pldt. pero pagbalik niya eh mas mabilis na siya…mas mabilis na siya sa dial up..(121kbps versus 384 na pinagyayabang nila)

Mayaman na nga, nanloloko pa para yumaman ng yumaman! Buti sana kung ang paraan ay dulot ng KABUTIHAN, at wag sana puro pansariling kapakanan lamang at KASAKIMAN! Pera karma. Tamaan sana’y wag magalit.

Didn’t get a chance to leave a message coz I thought the renewed PLDT 999 is already improved.
But I’m posting for the sake of my countrymen who’s seeking questions about Bayantel DSL.
foreword: after a year lock up my cousin’s renewed their “ala” dial-up 384kbps PLDT to 999 and it was greatly improved (up to now as they say through YM.) moving from 3000plus monthly fee (phone fee included) to 999 (plus another phone fee perhaps. then as of in my case, i never had pldtDSL.
I’ve been using BayanDSL for almost a year now. and here’s my infos:
1. First and foremost, hindi ako taga Bayantel.
2. the resi intial fees are 500 9upon application)
3. you can have DSL with OR without a bayantel phoneline ( think they call it standalone). fees vary though
4. charges for the resi-DSL is 899 plus resi-phone 499
5. the speed they promised is 256kbps the test results to 224, 210, 192 the worst. so in my opnion they’re pretty much decent.
6. my peak test without the cache goes up to 650kbps (i only had that for about an hour)
5. the average speed you get at daytime is 224
6. because of the PPPoE technology the nighttime burst its speed and goes up to 320 (that’s my average)
7. for some reasons you won’t like it all I can say is, hey it’s only 899 + 499 phone.
8. and nope, I had no headaches with bayantel’s services so far. none so far.
9. But Yes, I’ve heard a few who have problem with bayantel. A dear friend of mine is on bayantel’s 3000 monthly but his average is only 52kbps on speed tests. never inconsistent.
10. Other than him, I never had encountered someone who has that problem.
as for numbers, PLDT’s SMART bro has a hotline, it’s *888 on a smart sim-ed cellphone, 888-1111 on a landline.
as for PLDT. They do have one, 171, 173, or 114, try that out.
so for all my countrymen, say no to cha cha

but really, when bayantel’s DSL goes down, well i’ll be damned.
Sa mga hndi pa nkakaalam at baguhan,PLDT plan 999 is a joke,once youre in,ikukulong ka nila with their pathetic service for a year (that’s the lock-up period) so there is no chance for the subscriber to change his mind and request for an immediate disconnection once you have signed the contract.Otherwise you’ll get penalized with thousands of Php.

PLDT DSL is much better than SMART Wifi.. We had no problems at all after switching..
hi guys ako naman eto ang naranasan ko sa pldt…. so far nung ikabit i am one of the few na nagkaron ng 4mbps na connection… sobrang ok coz i downloaded lots of applications and mga musics pati movies sa torrent… i was really amazed with the connection after a while nasira ung connection ko i guess that was during the typhoon milenyo…. tapos nung tumawag ako sa 172 and ayusin nila ung connection ko naging 300kbps na lang… langya kaka disappoint sobra…
okay..dati kaming service provider ng PLDT. at talagang masasabi ko na ang monopoly ng PLDT sa telco’s sobrang malaki..kaya sobrang mayabang sila, sobrang mabilis silang maningil pero aabutin ka ng 6 na buwan bago kami makakuha ng pera sa kanila na below 500thou, pero kung mga sobrang 1million, inaabot kami ng 7 to 8 months bago mapasaamin ang pera..ganun sila kagarapal..wala akong mairereklamo sa DSL service nila at saka sa telephone lines nila dahil pagkabumabagsak mga linya namin, hindi kami tumatawag sa 172 na yan..dahil ang katotohanan nyan, wala naman talaga silang mga kwenta, kaya ang unang tinatwagan ko ay ang may hawak ng DSL ng buong PLDT which is nasa 5fth floor ng RCB building, tapos pagkalinya nman ang walang dial tone diretso kami sa may jupiter dahil andyan ang mga lineman na nag-iistambay sa kung saan-saan na kainan..kaya after first quarter ng 2006, itinigil na namin ang pagprovide sa PLDT. .Voice products ang siniservice namin sa kanila..ngayon lahat ng lines namin at dsl connection pati siniservicesan namin si bayantel..

i am also subscribed to pldt mydsl – plan 1995 or 1.2mbps. i tried using their username and password for testing which has 2mbps bandwidth and i got 2mbps bandwidth and i can download up to 200kbps. but when i try my username and password, i can’t even get more than 450kbps bandwidth!!! i think they limit their customer’s bandwidth to 1/3 of our subscribed bandwidth. it’s unfair ‘coz we’re paying them in exact amount but they don’t provide the correct service! i tried to mail the customer service through their “contact us” at their website but it always fail. TO PLDT STAFF, PLEASE BE FAIR TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!
I am subscriber pldt plan 999, i got bad ip from march 1, 2007- until today. No connection at all within 3 weeks.
So if you are planning to get subscribe from them think twice,they are the best liars on earth including 171 and 172. they have poor technical support etc. What the heck on earth these people are doing with their subscribers.
Poor, Lousy, Dsl , Telecom Getz?
First of all, i don’t see any residential internet broadband service provider that is good. I have tried pldt mydsl, then i moved to smartbro and now i’m on globe. All of them gives you bad services. Specially when you have troubles with your connection. Their customer support are unbelievably worst!
I have lost my internet connection since march 12 ’07. They were only able to restore my connection partially last march 23. Partially because my connection is intermitent, on and off until now. I have called the attention of these pipol in the customer service daily and all they do is promise u that their technical support will visit and fix ur line. But that’s just that broken promises.
So, i’ve decided not to pay may bill which i have to verify again with cs since my no connection period was not automatically deducted. I told them that i wont be using their services anymore and they’d be better of cutting my lines cause no way i will pay for something i have not and cannot use.
Bottom line is, do not! for the love of God! get globe broadband! Not unless you want to have an emotional breakdown.

pero actually, naghahanap talga ako ng magandang internet provider! sa Ngayon eh na Globe Speak and Surf ako! eh kaya lang dispalinghado rin ang connection! wala ako problema sa downloading pero sa uploading eh namputa ibang klase sa bagal! magupload ka ng photos mo sa friendster or mag attached sa email, kelangan mo muna matulog then pag gising mo eh still on process pa rin! hayop din tong mga taga globe and as usuall i called up for their support at 3 weeks na wala pa ring pumupuntang technician! I believe, our country has no good internet provider pa rin! tsk tsk tsk! kaya bagsak na bagsak talaga ang pilipinas!

hey guys i recently upgraded my internet connection from pldt vibe unlimited (Php440) to pldt my dsl 990, i originally applied for pldt dsl 888, the disadvantage is nde sya available in all areas, tsaka dapat naka next generation phone line kayo, ang catch sa pldt dsl 888, if you’re an exisiting pldt subscriber they will have to change your telephone number then ang internet speed mo is p to 88kbps lang. after a week a service man called me and verified my application and he told me na nde pa available ang next generation phone line sa area namin, but he suggested the plan 990, which includes the the phone line subscription plus dsl for up to 384kbps but my actual speed is up to 512 kbps ++, ang difference ng plan 999 512 kbps aside from your monthy residential phone line subscription on top of that yung dsl subscription mo. this plan 990 is the same promo with globe line dsl hehe.. for me its worth it naman. im happy with my new connection, sobrang tipid compared to our old pldt vibe subscription na 800 + 440 = php1240 with 49.2 kbps, bow for Php990 i get up to a max of 512kbps or more… =)

ganito po. 2 PC’s po gamit ko. ang nangyayari po ay madalas na didisconnect po ung isang PC gamit ko po ay TPlink na hub po, kc Modem router na po ung gamit ko kaya d na router yung binili ko. ang problema lang po sa hub eh minsan na didisconnect po ung isa sa PC ko at ang isa ay naka connect. paano po gagawin ko? may configuration pa po ba for every PC? ang alam ko po kc automatic na po (plug and play). diba ganun naman po dapat? help naman po pls. kung meron pa po akong d nalalaman para maging stable po ung 2pc’s ko sa internet. Im in Plan 999 for almost a year na. They told me that the speed was 384kbps but for almost a year di ko pa nasubukan umabot sa speed na yon lagi 110kbps lang. For the the past 3 weeks…lalo pang bumagal…2kbps na lang..highest na kung maging 9kbps… mabuti pa ang dial up mas mataas ang speed.. PLDT…masyado naman kayong madaya…mawawalan kayo ng client dahil sa ginagawa nyo… Because of your poor service…Im planning to change my internet provider…baka pati landline ko paalis ko… Bayantel, I think mas better…

Kung gusto ninyo ng sulit na DSL from pldt, don’t settle for the cheapest plan because most likely, it will be the one with the slowest speed kahit nakalagay sa ads “384 kbps”.
Yung mga dsl speed na nilalagay sa ads, “best effort” service yun, which means na hindi mo siya lagi makukuha, paminsan minsan lang. Before applying for ANY dsl(pldt, bayantel, etc.), pacheck mo sa customer service kung gaano kalayo ang bahay mo sa central office ng dsl. Sa US kc, pag lumampas ka ng 18k feet from the central office, hindi advisable na kumuha ng dsl. Hindi ko alam kung ano maximum distance from the central office dito na tolerable.
Kung gusto ninyo kumuha ng sulit na dsl speed and tight kayo sa budget, get the ones in the mid range like the 1500 – 2000 from pldt. My dsl is worth 3000, 2.2 mbps ang advertised. Most of the time I get 1.8mbps pero minsan pumapatak siya sa 3.0 mbps. Sulit na sulit ang dsl ko lalo na pag maraming downloads =)

oct 3 nag test ako ng speed ko sa ibang site at lumabas ay 113 up to 115 mbps then nag test ako sa site ng PLDT play 374 mbps wow sabi ko hangang sa speed test ng pldt may corruption pa rin !!!!! sobra kaya pala napakataas ng ping ko sa internet games umabot ng 670 samantalang yung mga kasama ko naglaro ng game all over the world 20 hanggang 50 lang ang pinakamataas nakakaingit nga ..kaya nga lagi lag ang cpu ko during game ..sana magbago ang ang speed ko sa internet ipagpasa dios ko nam lang kung di kaya ng pldt …yaohusua blessed you all pldt subscriber and pldt employee…

hala buti napadako ako sa site na to, kaka apply ko lang ng dsl 99 kanina, gailng na din ako sa smartbro, 40 feet na antenna namin ala pa din wentarz talo pa ko ng dial up hehe san ka pa 19kbps!! kung gusto nyo ipaputol smartbro nyo, basta advice ng contractors kailangan yung di na nila magagawan ng paraan! paputol nyo na! ako 8 months lang ako sa service nila di ako nag bayad ng termination fee nila! parang nagdadalwang isip na tuloy ako sa mydsl 999, tingin ko nga mas okay pa dial up alang putol! sana pwede yung bayantel d2 o kaya yung globe! salamat pow!
bago ko pa ma avail yan may existing line na ako from pldt. Gues what. that y there giving cheap internet service coz nghhati ng subscribers ng IP. for example. one subdvision are all in smart bro. wifi internet. all in that area are sharing 1 IP. if its 1 IP like T1 connections and there are 10 house having connected. divide it. u get what im saying. more connectivity. less speed.

magkakaproblema kaya ako if di kona binayaran yung bill ko for the 1st month palang which is 6K kase sobrang pangit ang service nila. di ako makatawag ng local call and di rin clear ang incoming call. Ive tried to file for deactivation to their mobile center but they asked me to pay the remaining lock in period fee… So di na ako nagbayad and wala din naman cila sinend na bill sa akin so pano ko malalaman kung magkano babayaan ko… recently, nakareciv ako ng letter fr PLDT offis. magbayad daw ako or else idedemanda daw.. totoo po kaya un?? magkakaproblema po kaya ako?

Well pldt plan 999 ako with landline pero mabilis naman ang connection ko..nakakapag online games ako like ragna, gg client, guild wars na walang lag. sa testing ng net speed ko umaabot sa 900kbps ako..hehehe ang alam ko pag may kapit bahay kang naka plan 999 with landline nahahati yung speed so mas marami mas babagal..pero sa case ko alam kong ako lang ang naka plan 999 kasi puro mayayaman ang kapitbahay ko .^_^

pwede ka mag router kung gusto mo 2 pc na may internet sa isang subscription.

Agree ako kay MG, magagaling ang Pldt sa panloloko. HIndi sila service oriented, Money oriented sila. Kahit kulang sa serbisyo basta kumikita sila.

interesting topic we have. to seniorita, yes i have tried the watchpad…but no, i’m sticking to regular tv programming unless they have put many more channel options. but qik is an ideal product, but not an ideal service of pldt. that’s my reklamo. other than that, i’m okay with with them.

I can attest to the fact that plan 999 goes from 1.3mbps to 1.8, give or take. I forgot the figures and I didn’t get any lags and whatnot. As far as I’m concerned, satisfied ako sa plan ko although there’s always that want to get that 3mbps with wifi router. hehehe
it’s true that the plan 999 goes to almost 2mbps. hope the good run continues!

iv been using plan 990 for almost a year. a bundle promo… dsl + landline = 990 monthly… its pretty sure you will be having a 384 kbps and up… speeed connection. ^__^
I have a friend and she told that her neighbor have internet connection as low as 4 hundred pesos a month. It’s so inbelievable! I ask her when did it happen and she she, baka nag promo. Well, she sounds guessing. How much will it really cost me for the internet connection?

yeah right, PLDT neglects it old customers. I used to have an internet shop using PLDT Biz package. My monthly service fee was Php4400 + vat that totals to more Php5000. When I closed my shop, I was able to terminate my internet connection. Since I don’t want to change my telephone num, I kept the business telephone line and applied for a downgrade. It’s been 6 months now and I still have a business line. I want to apply for plan 999 or 1299, but it’s only for residential users. I applied for a new tel line and they say there’s no more line available. same with Globe! They keep offering smart broadband or tattoo! I want DSL!
Follow ups to 171 is no use. The voice prompt says customer service assistants are busy, but when you are lucky enough to connect with one, you’d hear others voices in the background just making small talk. and most of the time, you get inept customer service assistants who don’t know how to answer you queries!

oct 25 mabagal ang internet ko dito sa shop ko SME business line ang subscribe ko sa kanila, tapos sabi nila temporarily disconnected daw ako once nabayaran ko na ung 8,876pesos ok na daw, oct 26 nagbayad ako ng 9000pesos para hndi maputulan, but then Nov 3 pinutulan parin nila ako tapos naibalik lang ung service nila sa akin after 1 month. but till now hndi pa rin nabalik ng maayos ang DSl ko.. i lost 70k para sa shop ko, anong case pwede isampa sa kanila? dapat kasi within 24 or 48 hours naka updated na ung payment ko sa kanila, pero in 7 days pinutulan pa rin nila ako..

guys, ano maganda gawin dito sa PLDT? nag apply ako ng PLDT kasi nakita ko ad nila yung bundle na 768kbps internet at landline. 1299 yung monthly. nag down ako ng 1400, at yung remaining na 700php sa bill na lang daw yun. eto na at dumating na ang bill, nagtataka ako bakit may SERVICE AND OTHER CHARGES pa na 2300+? hindi naman sinabi at hindi nakalagay sa print ad nila. so bale ang bill ko ngayon ay nasa 3.4k plus lahat kasama na dun ang remaining balance sa downpayment ko which is 700, at yung monthly na 1299 at yung EVAT pa. ineexpect ko kasi yung babayaran ko ay 700, plus yung bill ko na 1299.
saan kaya pwede ireklamo ito? hindi naman nakalagay sa ad nila na ganun ang babayaran mo. bottom line is nangloloko sila.

I think baka nakalimutan ng taga pldt na lagyan ka ng wireless router. nasa 1,400-1,600 yung price non.. dalawang brand kasi yon na pag pipilian mo..sige mas mabuti pang pumunta ka na lang sa pldt. minsan kasi mga agent sa phone shunga shunga eh di alam mga pinag sasabi. next time pag may tumawag sayo kunin mo ang name para in case na magkaproblema pwede mo syang balikan. tandaan mo yung time and date of call mo kasi naka record yan pwede nilang ma trace.
