Looks like PLDT is aggressively selling its DSL service, now with a residential package of Php999 per month (PLDT Plan 999) at speeds of 384Kbps. This is the former bandwidth allocation for their Plan 1995 which is now at 512Kbps.
On top that, their Php788 per month for Smart WiFi is being heavily promoted in the provinces.
The Plan 999 was also an old promo for students only but has now been expanded to cover regular residential subscribers. With the introduction of DSL Plan 999, I think PLDT will soon be upgrading existing subscribers to higher bandwidths. Much more that Globe Telecoms is pushing to 2Mbps for Php2,995 (Explore Gold Plan).
The problem here though is that PLDT is so aggressive in selling broadband connections to potential new customers that it has already forgotten about the existing ones. Just read the comments over at the Smart WiFi entry.
I am sure they know that it’s cheaper to retain new customers than to get new ones. Oh, I forgot they have that 1-year lock-up clause.
A trade-off for tech support? I have heard the company is raking profit this quarter.

kinabitan ako ng pldt dsl plan 999 three days ago. always ako nag check speed, kahit sa pldt play pero hindi pa ko umabot kahit minsan ng 250kbps paiba iba ngayon 83kbps lang ako. ask ko lang kung meron din iba dyan na pareho nagngyayari tulad akin. kasi sabi nila sa ads 384kbps. average speed ko lang siguro 130kbps.

can anyone cofirm me that pldt plan999 is bad? im on a 384Kbps plan 1995 right now. because on my plan they guarranty 80% of the maximun bandwith which sometimes i reach even higher that 384Kbps. is it really the ISP or is it your computer that you used that makes it slow? Because im interested on switching my plan to save money. im considering Plan999 and smart wi-fi. anybody who can help?

dsl is a distance sensitive technology, meaning, naaapektohan cya ng layo mo sa telephone central office, mas malayo mas mabagal, di ko lang alam kung paano malalaman ang layo mo sa location ng central office dahil di ito advertised, di ito depende sa pc, nasa connection talaga yan. Average speed cguro ang 300+ kbps kaya di cla puwedeng kasuhan, sa mga places na malalapit, lumalagpas pa ata ng 300+ kbps. kc sa mga dial-up, ang 56kbps fake din naman, di full 56 nakukuha natin, 33kbps max lang ang kaya itransfer s modem
Hay nako, ok nga ang pldt dsl plan 999 pero inconsistent naman ang connection… dynamic IP lang daw kasi ginagamit nila, according sa isang source na nagsabi sa kin. for example, makakakonek ka sa yahoomail mo ngayon, pero bukas hindi na. the next day ok na naman. nakakainis kasi in teh middle of the chat sa YM, biglang mawawala yung connection mo pero gumagana naman ibang sites. tapos pag labas mo sa shop, magtataka ka kung bakit yang site na inexplore mo sa shop ay gumagana pero sa PC sa bahay mo hinde… haaay, kinukulit ko na nga yung 173 nakakainis na kasi e

having a landline does not guarantee DSL can be installed. even the “check availability” where you input your phone number on their website is not accurate.

sa pagkakaalam ko (please confirm) pareho lang gamit na base station ng smart wifi at pldt mydsl. naku naman talaga tong dalawang damuhong to di na kaya magbigay ng connection kasi sobra na ang traffic sige parin ng sige mga linta talaga irresponsable pa.

guys ok lang ba senyo na panget muna connection nyo? as in sobrang panget na makakaranas kayo ng weeks of no connection at all? pero babawi sila later on? kasi wala pa silang multiplexer?(yung device na pang manage ng heavy traffic pero depende parin kung may available pang frequency)
tapos may “clause” pang ganun? sinisiguro talaga nila na walang bibitaw kasi alam nila magkakaloko loko talaga.
kung may mga taga NTC man dito, napaka unfair diba? tsaka yung clause nila napaka unfair trade practices. basahin nyo terms ng dalawang mokong na to at malalaman nyo kung ano standing nyo pag subscriber na nila kayo

hi i just recently installed a PLDT dsl-wifi 999 and i am in the Region III area (Bulacan) and I will tell you personally from my short experience, this SUCKS! low connectivity always. and dont rely on pldtplay as well as netstat live (they recommended this)

PLDT and Smart… iisa lng yan. Siguro mssbi ko ok lng ung PLDT MyDSL although ang gamit ko is Digitel DSL. Pero ung Wifi at wireless nila, nsa experimental stage pa lang un. Di pa nila na-pperfect yung services nila tpos ni-launch nila. Kumbaga, ung mga nka-subscribe na before eh naging respondents nila sa experiment nila. So, sa ganun mlalaman nila kung ok ba or may problems ung Wifi nila. It turns out na palpak ung service nila. Kawawa tuloy ung mga naunang subscriber tpos may lock-in period pa for 1 year. Sa akin lng, mag-DIGITEL DSL or Globelines Broadband muna kau, guaranteed pramis.
I agree with much of the comments above. The service was ok at first. But since last month, it has been getting slower and slower. Sometimes you can’t even access some sites.
PLDT should really do something about this.

E pano ba naman napakainconsistent ng connection nila na tulad ngayon, gusto ko magdownload pero nde ko magwa dahil ano? cannot be displayed na naman as usual. i worked on a call center before as a tech support agent for dial-up and dsl services. Well, kahit po subs ka on certain speed like 384kbps. you’re not guaranteed na maaachieve mo ang speed na to. Subscriber’s distance from central office can greatly affect speed. madalas naman, if subscribed ka on dsl, sa una mabilis. later on sa kakasurf mo dumarami yung cached files or spyware sa pc mo na nakakapagpabagal ng system performance. you may wanna check on this…oooppps, gotta go. ok po ang forum na ‘to. am wondering wat company maganda mag-offer ng wi-fi…

and one thing usually pldt use a modem router so u dont need to buy a router the best way to find out wether ur modem is a just a modem or a modem router is simply get the model seach the net and see if its a modem or a modem router. hehehe isa sa trick nyan eh hanapin mo kung may rest button ung modem mo, pag may reset switch yan malang modem router yan pero di ko rin nilalahat kasi pag na reset mo ung modem mo at naka connect ung computer mo sa modem mo… type this at dos promt “ipconfig” pag may lumabas na ip usually 192.x.x.x or something except 169.x.x.x malamang sure kana na modem router yan kasi by default ang modem router is in router mode pag factory default. the only thing u need to do is get the ip add of ur modem and get the default pass word so u can enter the ur isp pass word and ID para automatic connect na ung modem mo at kung may plano ka mag dagdag ng computer bili kanalang ng switch or hub hehehe i hope I was able to answer some of the question……but pls correct me if iam wrong

hi po. may tatanong lang ako. diba ang DSL plan 999. ang 384Kbps ang bilis daw ito. pero kung magdadownload ako. bakit 30kbps or 35kbps lang. bakit? at bakit pinagawa ako ng pldt user name. pero parang hindi natupad. bakit parang iba ang user at password ko. ang problema ko lang. bakit hindi nasusunod ang speed.
Bagal na ng internet ko
plan 999 pero 112kbps lng sa speed meter nila 
nung bagong customer pa lng ako, nagagamit ko 1.2mb speed. kaya ko mag download ng 170-180 kb per sec sa torrent. ngayon naging 12 kb per sec na lang :((
Basta Guys next time switch na tayo either sa Globelines Broadband or sa Bayantel Broadband. Never na sa PLDT DSL/ Smart Wifi! Bulok na kasi ang serbisyo nila… Abusado na!

i just had a pldt plan 999 connection. And when i download files, the max rate i get is 22kbps! so i thought something must be wrong with my pc. so i formatted it and re installed the OS. And still the same. WTF! where is the 100 to 385 kbps they are saying about? Does anyone out there have the same problem as i?
PLDT mydsl plan 999 is hoax. papasakayin ka lang nila sa first week pero unti unti siyang babagal at mawawala. mamamaga ang daliri mo sa kakatawag sa 172 pero kung ano anong dahilan ang madidinig mo.
wag ka mag alala at babalik siya pagkatapos ng ilang araw…isang linggo kung may kakilala ka sa pldt. pero pagbalik niya eh mas mabilis na siya…mas mabilis na siya sa dial up..(121kbps versus 384 na pinagyayabang nila)

PLDT DSL PLAN 999 Bulok ang Services! 2 Months ago nko nagreport sa problem tas hanggang ngaun wala pa din. Ayaw pa nga nila pumunta dito sa bahay namin para i-check ang problem eh! Mga Assholes!
Mayaman na nga, nanloloko pa para yumaman ng yumaman! Buti sana kung ang paraan ay dulot ng KABUTIHAN, at wag sana puro pansariling kapakanan lamang at KASAKIMAN! Pera karma. Tamaan sana’y wag magalit.

Didn’t get a chance to leave a message coz I thought the renewed PLDT 999 is already improved.
But I’m posting for the sake of my countrymen who’s seeking questions about Bayantel DSL.
foreword: after a year lock up my cousin’s renewed their “ala” dial-up 384kbps PLDT to 999 and it was greatly improved (up to now as they say through YM.) moving from 3000plus monthly fee (phone fee included) to 999 (plus another phone fee perhaps. then as of in my case, i never had pldtDSL.
I’ve been using BayanDSL for almost a year now. and here’s my infos:
1. First and foremost, hindi ako taga Bayantel.
2. the resi intial fees are 500 9upon application)
3. you can have DSL with OR without a bayantel phoneline ( think they call it standalone). fees vary though
4. charges for the resi-DSL is 899 plus resi-phone 499
5. the speed they promised is 256kbps the test results to 224, 210, 192 the worst. so in my opnion they’re pretty much decent.
6. my peak test without the cache goes up to 650kbps (i only had that for about an hour)
5. the average speed you get at daytime is 224
6. because of the PPPoE technology the nighttime burst its speed and goes up to 320 (that’s my average)
7. for some reasons you won’t like it all I can say is, hey it’s only 899 + 499 phone.
8. and nope, I had no headaches with bayantel’s services so far. none so far.
9. But Yes, I’ve heard a few who have problem with bayantel. A dear friend of mine is on bayantel’s 3000 monthly but his average is only 52kbps on speed tests. never inconsistent.
10. Other than him, I never had encountered someone who has that problem.
as for numbers, PLDT’s SMART bro has a hotline, it’s *888 on a smart sim-ed cellphone, 888-1111 on a landline.
as for PLDT. They do have one, 171, 173, or 114, try that out.
so for all my countrymen, say no to cha cha

but really, when bayantel’s DSL goes down, well i’ll be damned.
Sa mga hndi pa nkakaalam at baguhan,PLDT plan 999 is a joke,once youre in,ikukulong ka nila with their pathetic service for a year (that’s the lock-up period) so there is no chance for the subscriber to change his mind and request for an immediate disconnection once you have signed the contract.Otherwise you’ll get penalized with thousands of Php.

Pag nakaranas ka ng abyssmal connection regularly (20-56 kbps-their ACTUAL DSL SPEED)
Tuloy pa rin ang bayad…Ha! HA! HA!
Pagdurusahan mo ito for 1 terrible internet year experience. TO HELL WITH YOU PLDT!!!
oh lock-up period was 1 year? They told me here it was 2 years! That’s just frustrating to know.

common sense lang yan.. kung maganda ang DSL Service at dumami ang gumamit ng internet e sino pa kukuha ng cellphone di ba?
e di lahat tayo bibili na lang ng laptop at mag chat na lang sa wifi ng libre, or kaya sa bahay natin.. libre na, mabilis pa..
di ka pa charge by the minute.. long distance natin will be done by VOIP na..
e di kung maganda ang internet service.. bakit ka pa mag subscribe sa smart?
negosyo yan e.. sadyang pinapapanget ng PLDT at Smart ang internet service nila para nga naman bumili ka ng 3G phone or kaya naman magpakabit ka ng landline para gumastos ng mahal na overseas call?

nakita ng PLDT na mas liliit ang kita nila pag dumami ang nagpakabit ng DSL.. since it will affect their Smart subscriptions and landline connections..
langya pano nga pala malalaman kung abot ng globe broadband ang lugar namin sa pasig? ayoko na ng pldt, barkada ko naka smart bro laging putol

384Kbps = 48KBps? tama right? note that capital B means byte and small letter is bit.
so if your downloading something and it says your download speed is 20-30KB/s then medyo okey na yun…
TAE! buti naisipan kong magsearch bout sa pldt DSL!! bulok ba talga? as in? to d max? tae! excited pa nmn ko! bulok tlga pldt…eto ah, share lng..ngpakabit kmi telepono, after 2 days, bumagyo (milenyo) tpos nwala dialtone. tae nka isang libong twag na ata kmi gang ngun di pren nila inaaksyunan! hayup ang mga de poootah!! replayan nyo ko ah..kwentuhan nyo pko sa pldt DSL. hehe

TAMA TALAGA NA PANLOLOKO TONG 999 sa PLDT. I got this connection from PLDT at lintek napakabagal ang connection mas mabilis pa yong dati kong dial up lagi putol connection.
waaaaaaa naka one year lock in ako di pwede pa disconnect kasi malaki ang babayaran sa termination. Lintek talaga
Mga tol wag na kayong magpakabit kasi kayo rin magsisi sa huli…..
talagang pulpol at mga tamad ang mga technician ng pldt. nakakabwisit wala pa din dial tone ang linya ng telepono ko. tarantae talaga ang serbisyo. walang kwenta
Walang kwenta tong PLDT 999! Ang bagal! buti na lng nag Speak n Surf ako sa Globe! Sobrang Bilis!
