5 years ago Smartbro claimed that it's 7x faster than a regular dial-up connection. 5 years later, it still is! 7x56 = 392. Nothing has changed except that bandwidth is now measured by Mbits. Smart is the same piece of crap and nothing has changed.

basically naka-limit na in the first place ung bandwidth mo.. so wag ng umasa na aabot pa lagpas sa 900 kbps(kilobits per second).. hehehe

LOL...

normally smartbro: up 500/down 500
ginagawa ng tweakers.. up 300/ down 700

so bibilis talaga ang download.. ung uplink naman babagal..

and another thing... eto talaga ang bida sa lahat...

5.download CABLENUT.
PROPERLY HELP YOU**

The answers to the following questions are very important when posting asking for assistance, if you answer them accordingly it will save you and us alot of time in helping you get your connection optimized quickly and easily.

1. Download Cablenut.

2. What type of connection do you have? i.e. 56K, ISDN, DSL (PPPoE or not), Cable etc.

3. Who is youe ISP and what is your advertised speed from them? i.e. Cox.net & 3000/256 - this is advertised in kilobits per second. If you don’t know your caps please provide us with a link to your ISPs homepage.

4. What are your current settings now? Do a TCP/IP Analyzer test and copy and paste the results (remember to XXXXX out your IP address) here.

5. What kind of speeds are you getting now? Do 10 speed tests from Speakeasy (choose the location nearest to you) clearing your internet temp files prior to each test, and give us the average of your top 5 tests. This will give you a good baseline to go by but remember speed tests are not 100% accurate.

6. Please tell us your operating system i.e. 95, 98, 98SE, ME, 2K or XP.

IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND
Remember your goal is to get about 90% of your rated speed, sometimes depending on factors beyond your control i.e. routers, servers, line quality etc. it just isn’t gonna happen, no matter what you do.

The following are my suggested settings in Cablenut for 2K & XP:

DefaultReceiveWindow = multiply your ISPs download caps in kilobytes by 1024
DefaultSendWindow = multiply your ISPs upload caps in kilobytes by 1024
DisableAddressSharing = 1
InitialLargeBufferCount = 100
InitialMediumBufferCount = 240
InitialSmallBufferCount = 320
LargeBufferSize = 81920
MaxFastTransmit = 64000
MediumBufferSize = 15040
PriorityBoost = 0
SmallBufferSize = 1280
TransmitWorker = 32
FastSendDatagramThreshold = 4096
EnableFastRouteLookup = 1
EnablePMTUDiscovery = 1
IgnorePushBitOnReceives = 0
GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize = use the calculator to find your best value*
MaxFreeTcbs = 8000
MaxHashTableSize = 16384
MaxNormLookupMemory = 5000000
SackOpts = 1
SynAttackProtect = 1
Tcp1323Opts = 0 (set to 1 if TcpReceiveWindow is 65535 or higher)
TcpLogLevel = 1
TcpMaxDupAcks = 2
TcpMaxHalfOpen = 100
TcpMaxHalfOpenRetried = 80
TcpRecvSegmentSize = 1460
TcpSendSegmentSize = 1460
TcpTimedWaitDelay = 30
TcpUseRFC1122UrgentPointer = 0
TcpWindowSize = use the calculator to find your best value*
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server = 20
MaxConnectionsPerServer = 10
DefaultTTL = 64
DisableUserTOSSetting = 0
TcpMaxDataRetransmissions = 6
DefaultTOSValue = 92

recently took over my friend's smartbro connection and am seriously considering having the subscription cancelled.

the longest my service was down was 12 days. took me a day to get a hold of their callcenter rep. plus i had to listen to that anooying jingle they kept playing.. iahve recordings to prove it...i waited 10 days for a repair crew.

putcha! tapos ayaw i relay nun ibang callcenter reps yung request for rebate, only to find out later na puede pala.... arrgghh the frustration...

tapos locked in k for a whole friggin year

i seriously am considering filing with the the ntc.. eto nmn.. down ang website ng ntc... juskohh.. delubyo na talaga sa pinas..

waiting out this delubyo but i think i will realy have to file with ntc to address this massive shortchanging of their subscribers.

If you guys want to upgrade your smartbro to CORPORATE account with speeds of up to 3Mbps call their hotline number...lowest prices starts at nearly 4K per month. Thats around 512kbps I think.

*2888 thats their number (Asterix before the 2, not omission)

Worth it if you are always on the net or have a computer shop...coz regular smartbro bandwidth cant cut it, especially this year Ive noticed more and more subscribers in my area...eg....lower bandwidth for me. I shall be upgrading soon

smartbro is a shared network with direct line of sight. All users connected within the radius of smarts tower are sharing the same public ip, which means, the more we are connected the slower we get.

A piece of advice, wireless connection is not safe. Plus there are many disadvantages. Im sure you guys know what i mean.

hehehe...

I mean pinakamaganda connection among sa neighborhood, pinakamabilis na yung akin.

Kakapakabit ko pa lang ng Smart Bro last June 5, so far so good naman but then kasi siguro one block away lang yung pinaka-cell site or base station. Hesitant nga ako magpakabit sa kanila since dami complain.

globequest:1670.14080 kbps

which means you can download at 208.77000 KB/sec

PLDTplay: 131072 kbps Bandwidth Test Results : 128 Mbps

Tsaka medyo ok yung agent and installer ko, they made sure na malakas ang signal at maayos ang installation and configuration. Sa iba kasi basta magkabit lang eh. It took them 1.5 hours to install dito sa bahay.
