Smart Communications thought their Smart Wifi brand is knee deep in the mud right now that the best thing to remedy the bad publicity is to re-name it. So, they came up with Smart Bro (is that a shortcut for broadband?)
They did some clean-up and even remove pages from their official site which mentioned Smart Wifi. Too bad that page is already #1 on Google, Yahoo and MSN for the term “smart wifi”. (I suppose my blog will take over that spot, eh?)
Migs pointed out that that Smart Bro is also a browser and a few days after the switch, Smart’s pages are already in the front page for the keyword. (I’m hoping this page will be somewhere near in the next couple of days.)
PLDT’s myDSL-w has also been consolidated under this single brand name. Subscribers comment that there’s really nothing new in terms of service improvements — just pure PR and bundling of services.
A commenter at Smart Wifi Chronicles adds:
Kaya lang nagpalit ng pangalan ang Smart Wifi To Smart BRO para maitago yung negative feedbacks ng Smart WiFi na masesearch sa Google. Kung Smart BRO nga naman ang search mo, wala pang negative feed back kasi sariwa pa.
… and I kinda agree with him.
The subscription plan did change to Php999/month, which is more expensive than the old one.

continuation ito nung una kong comment.Yung cousin ko pala nag refer sakin about sa smartbro. yung PLDT bagal kumilos tatawag-tawag to promote mydsl tpos iaaply ka nila tapos kelangan mo pa sila kulitin palagi lang sasabihin sayo naforward napo namin application nio so hintayin nyo nlang tawag ng technician namin pero ala naman tumawag!pag nag follow-up ka naman sasabihin lang sayo wala pa sila slot o anupaman masyado pa silang teknikal. pinaghintay pa nila kami ng one month tapos wla namn pala! kaya hayun di na ako makapaghintay nagpakabit na ako ng smartbro.salamat ok na at nakabitan na kami laki naitulong nito lalo na sa communication namin ng utol ko at relatives sa ibang lugar.
I’m a new smartbro subscriber.After ko mag-apply the next day kinabitan na kami ng internet kaagad. masasabi ko satisfied naman kami sa service ng smart. so tama lang pala na ngayon lang kami nagpakabit dahil feeling ko naresolve na ng smart problems nito sa mga clients n’ya before. after reading some of other clients complaints I;m hoping na na-aksyonan na ng smart yung mga reklamo nila at maimprove na serbisyo nila. so far wla pa naman ako naeencounter na problema. maganda reception nung antena namin cguro mataas at malakas pa signal ng smart dito samin atska kami palang yata ang una dito sa baranggay namin so wala pa kacompetensya sa signal. hehehe. message ko sa smart pagbutihan nyo pa ang trabaho n’yo dahil yung binabayad ng customer hindi lang pinupulot king saan-saan.

tapos after sa relocation trash na lahat,
mg 3 weeks na complains ko, hindi talaga maganda service nila,
isa pa, wag na kayo umasa sa government, mas powerful ang organize na plano ng mga tao kaysa government, isipin nyo na lng na walang government d2, hire na lng tayo ng birador (assasin) or terrorist,
wag na kayo maniwala sa Law Suit na yan, hindi yan organize na systema,
gawa na lng tayo bomba, wala nman security mga towers nila!
alam nyo natatawa talaga ako sa sarili ko, dahil ngayon ko lng naisip nah: kaya pala may contract na one year dahil ALAM na ng smart na HINDI MAGANDA service nila,

almost 1 year na laging down ang linya namin nuon pa dapat paputol pero meron pala kontrata.never na nagpadala sila ng technician para ma tsek kung bakit lagi down ang linya.ok naman daw sa kanila ang linya pero what about the antenna o cable sa amin.then last 3 weeks sabi nila landcard sira pero ng kargahan namin ng card ay gumana naman.so we finally decided today na paputol na lang.pero mahirap din magpadisconnect lalo na sa kagaya ko nandito sa saudi at sa akin nakapangalan yung linya.hinanapan pa mrs.ko ng authorization at suporting papers like passports at iba pa.kaya padala ko pa mga papers.
