Beware of Ctrl+C

We often use keyboard shortscuts to do some routinary tasks on our PC. One of the most widely used shortcut key is Ctrl+C, or copy text.

This copied data is stored in clipboard and is accessible from the internet by a combination of Javascripts and PHP/ASP/CGI.

Here’s an example:

Do not keep sensitive data (like passwords, creditcard numbers, PIN etc.) in the clipboard while surfing the web. It is extremely easy to extract the text stored in the clipboard to steal your sensitive information.

Note: Does not work with FireFox though. Another reason you should ditch IE.

      just as I understand!

i use both IE and Firefox.

      -the site uses javascripts.
-javascripts dont run on firefox well as on IE. that’s why the application didn’t work properly on firefox.
-the attack never always passes through browsers. so no matter what browser you are using, clipboard contents can still be accesible in not only one way.

there’s no way the safest once connected! let’s just stay alert and updated! keep the antispywares active.

in my case, aside from anti-virus and spydoctors, i have freeRAMxp which clears my clipboard in timely manner as set. that makes sense to me.

another idea i got from this entry, man. ;)
