Filipino Efren Peñaflorida made it to the finals of the 2009 CNN Heroes. He is vying for the top spot and online voting is ongoing. Help Efren by voting for him here. There’s an event today at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall to kick-off the campaign.
Efren leads the 10,000-strong Dynamic Teen Company — a group of volunteers that spent the last 12 years teaching basic reading and writing to 1,500 children in slum areas using its “kariton klasrum” (pushcarts with books, pencils and educational materials). Globe Telecom supported the event by bringing in dozens of computers and laptop connected via Globe Tattoo so more people are able to vote.
