Full Paypal Support in 2007

Dustin Cheng reports in his blog that eBay promised full Paypal functionality in the Philippines by 2007.

Another interesting query came from another eBay veteran who suggested that since PayPal is coming next year ( YES! eBay & PayPal promised that full PayPal support is coming in 2007!!! YEY!), why don’t they come out with a PayPal Prepaid system that would definitely be embraced by the prepaid loving Filipinos. Kudos!

I missed this event last November because I was too busy then and totally forgot all about it. The Paypal issue is actually the main reason I wanted to go and ask them personally.

It’s good too hear the plans are on the way and it’s coming sooner than I expected.

Of course they want to give us full PayPal, but I’m sure they have some criteria we have to fulfill and it’s not just as simple as waiting for 2007.

That’s good news. Time to monetize free wordpress plugin downloads with donate buttons.

I agree, December of 2007 would be still be a long wait. A PayPal prepaid system? Whoah, now that’s definitely aimed at the Philippine market.

Prepaid PayPal is an interesting concept, but they would need to write new code, have a new business plan, etc… would they do that just for the Philippines? Or perhaps they would look for other markets for it.

Prepaid PayPal is definitely a good concept specially if it is integrated with ebay, e.i. you can’t bid more than what you have on your PayPal acct. i’ve experienced people would bid and win then ended up not fulfilling the bid final value.

Based on my experience with PayPal while running an offshore company, I don’t believe anything they say unless it’s a statement of record.

Not everybody has a visa or mastercard. But do you think Payeasy is in trouble? Paypal supports mobile cash so it’s up to Smart or Globe now.

with the speed by which Google Checkout is kicking PayPal’s butt in the payment processing department…maybe we should look to Google to bring a C2C payment solution :)

      First to market my ass…

December 2007 will come in just more than a couple of months from now. So, where’s my fully functional Paypal account?! :P

What’s “PayPal”? I don’t remember having a “Pal” by the name of “Pay”.

If they do give full Philippine service, then that will be a surprise. If by the end of 2007 they did not live up to their statements, then that isn’t a surprise.

      ;)
