Landrush .ASIA Domains

At least 3 bloggers have already asked me about the ongoing landrush of .asia domains — what i think about it or am I interested to join the rush. Surprisingly, this has been on my radar for months now but haven’t gotten much interest.

Here’s what I think this would boil down to:

  • Most of the good single term domains will have already been taken or reserved.
  • Interested applicants will eventually bid higher on domains that have multiple applications. You’d really have to dig deeper into your pocket if you are game.
  • I don’t see short-term benefits except for vanity names.

However, if you already have a good brand and you want to expand your niche beyond the Philippine archipelago, then is is a good chance for you. Niche in the travel, food and entertainment sector will benefit a lot by grabbing strong names and vanity domains.

The running price for a dot.asia domain is $30 for 2 years which is not bad. I may eventually register a couple domains later depending whether I can think of any good ones not taken yet.

Anybody else had their radars on the .asia domains lately?

Domains are better investments than real estate.

      Reserved 10 already.

Getting ready to bid on March 12th

Funny, during the pre-registration period I was ecstatic to find out that sex.asia was still available. So I bought it in Godaddy, along with 9 other domains. Until I realized it was a pre-registration (stupid me). Damn! Out of the 10 I “bought”, I’m guessing I’ll end up with zero.

Probably a .asia version of my .com.ph domain for added link juice. :P

Surprisingly, it’s cheaper then a .ph domain!

Oh boy, here we go again….

I was on to it when Godaddy sent a Pre-registration noticed and while searching for a good .asia domain I was doubleminded. I was thinking blog.asia for blog and malay.asia, etc ect, but didn’t pre-reg any of it. I believe domain name doesn’t matter - it is the proper SEO techniques that’s impt. though I believe that good domain name have an advantages…. This might be a good start if you want to do business with Chinese people? China’s population is growing and having a Chinese related domain ending with .asia is good deal. Maybe like jackychan.asia? or jetli.asia or aisa.asia Lol!
