I use Google Chrome since it provides a bigger viewing screen for my msi wind. Think its nice for netbook in terms of browsing. Downloading and streaming are other issues. It sucks in those fields.

@Gen - don't know of any other local study/survey this focused. I'm sure you have internal stats as well.

@eizan - saw that earlier but forgot to edit. thanks for reminding.

@orak, I use 3 or 4 kinds of analytics tools all at the same time.

@ed - figures are for entire Philippine users, not YugaTech.

@jhay good point with the WMP loading by default.. altho, the stats suggest that once its fired up, they are using it to access yugatech.. and no offense to anyone that uses wmp, but i would think the demographic of yuga's readers would be a lil more tech savy and less inclined to use WMP by default -- obviously i am wrong here haha

@andre i use safari, firefox, and chrome for my bpi access and it works fine

yo yuga!

I think it's time to upgrade your a web analytics. I would recommend the services of Clicky:

http://www.getclicky.com

Clicky is a Web Analytics service that provides real time stats monitoring and tracking along with a ton of useful features and a pretty decent interface. There are some tweaks I'd like to see to the look when monitoring multiple sites under one account, but other than that, after a few days of use, I'm pleasantly surprised with the speed and features of the service.

It's a good thing that open source browsers such as FF, chrome and opera are becoming more popular because it pushes Microsoft's IE to the limit. Honestly, these open source browsers are far better than IE but since in every brand new PC IE is default people tends to stick with it. I think it's better if other browsers will be included on every brand new PC.

A little typo there, it should be Firefox 3, not Firefox 2. :)

Besides that, thanks for sharing.

I wonder if Media Player really uses the IE in its online browsing. Since it is included on the browser category, so i think, the globalstat found it as different browser.

That is a very good news indeed. But I wonder if this is because Filipinos are aware of Firefox or simply because internet cafe installed Firefox as default browser.

I still see a lot using IE, especially for non-tech people.

Abe, great post.

Is there any other service that is tracking browser share in the Philippines that you know of? In the US we use NetRatings, in the EU we use XitiMonitor, in Thailand- truehits.net, etc. If you know of any local statistics from Filipino sites looking at browser share, that'd be interesting to compare to this data set.

so, have local banks started to support non-IE browsers already? two years ago when I still lived in the PH all banks supported only IE. this updated stat should make them reconsider that.

I think Media Player was counted because most of PCs, especially neighborhood internet cafes in the country has Media Player as the default media player, and once this fired up, it goes online to connect to online stores.

Of course, I could be wrong. ;)
