In Alexa, the Philippines ranked #5 for Multiply’s traffic origins contributing to an estimated 13.4% of its total users. With Google Insights, Philippines is #1 for Multiply searches.
The question is, who's back is really being scratched? Who looks to gain more from the partnership? And the next question is, will the other station follow suit?

I for one understand why Multiply would want to monetize their local traffic, and if their ad sharing execution is done properly, they look to cash in too.

Let's hope that the corporate monsters don't misinterpret the blogging community. (Although you have to admit, the Philippine blogosphere has been more, should I say, 'diverse' as of late.) As was mentioned by Connie above.

If you're correct with your analysis, Yuga, then we are doomed. Corporations will view and assess the worth of blogs as advertising platforms based on the quality of the bulk of Multiply blogs (some are good but 90% are bleh), then these corporations will get the wrong idea about blogs in general.

"Nice analysis Abe. So you’re saying, ABS-CBN is legitimizing blog advertising for corporations? Great!

I totally forgot that Multiply is really a multimedia blog service with “Friend” features.
"

yeah I agree. it's kinda the in thing right now... hehe

Interesting analysis. Yes, hopefully this move will move local advertisers to see blogs as a viable platform for advertising. Many local content producers deserve to be compensated for the excellent content they're creating, and ads is still one of the top ways to do that.
