Microsoft Zune 4, 8 and 80 are out

It’s official. The new Zunes are out. Nope, they’re not the Zune 2 Touch I blogged about earlier.

MS Zune 2

Not much development actually, except for a newer and bigger 80GB HDD model called Zune 80. There are flash-based models too — Zune 4 and Zune 8 (yeah, you guess the capacity).

Maybe the biggest surprise here is that the Zune Music Store will be selling over 1 million DRM-free music.

Prices range for these Zunes go from $150 to $250. Okay, now they’ve released the 2nd generation, why can’t I find any remnants of the Zune here in the Philippines?

your not looking hard enough hehehe….

Anyways the Zune 30 was about P15,000 pesos in greenhills.

Was good about zune is that the os or software for zune player is also available for zune 30 classic, which enables all the features of zune 80 unlike with iPod you have to buy the newer versions to get the new features.

what Zune 80, Zune 4 and Zune 8 has bought to the plate is the support for DRM Free music. The zune store will also be selling DRM Free music. CooL!

But one thing that bothers me is that you can only play a shared file 3 times although you can share it to as many people as you want. Scks.

They should’ve come out with support for Real Media as well.

With that said, Zune 2 is a real iPod competitor.

@brianB h.264 is better than real media hehe and it is now natively supported so no need to convert them.

is it just me or is the most common, most fatal flaw of the zune its lcd? Man, it easily breaks. I’ve found similar posts about it, and it also happened to me. You’ll also see several sellers of its lcd with a kit for opening your zune without doing damage to it. But hands down, i like the zune much better than the ipod with the product bundles and all. Value for money man. I suggest you get the A/V bundle with your Zune when you buy. Well worth it.

i loooove my zune 30. i had trouble installing the software at first (but i think that’s common with all the zune users) and has not had any problems since. havent seen much of it here in the philippines but i saw people selling in ebay. zune is definitely way cheaper than ipod. i bought mine from the US and when converted, it’s only about 10,000 pesos here. so worth it.
