Web 3.0 with start on your Mobile Phone

There have been tons of suggestions for defining Web 3.0 (yes, another hype word) but if ever that era on the WWW will come, I sure believe it will start with our cellphones.

Sugar Attack hits the nail on the head here:

Everyone has an opinion on Web 3.0 lately. Personally, I think they are all wrong. And while I won’t profess to carry the official definition of Web 3.0 (personally, i think the definitions are stupid and misguided) I’ll tell you what I think the future of the web holds.

Web 3.0 will be a mobile web revolution.

It is simply a matter of time before websites start catering directly to the users of these new mobile devices, and that is when we will truly see a new “web” emerge. Some really progressive companies have a head start. Facebook (with its mobile service), Twitter (keyword tracking over SMS) and Flickr (geocoding of photographs) all come to mind – Wikipedia locking off edits to their encyclopedia definitely does not.

I think that if there will ever be a much better experience of the Internet, it should be focused on the mobile phone. This will open up the possibility of reaching a wider market with almost half of the entire population in the world having access to mobile phones (as opposed to PCs).

Yes, better and more realistic experience of the web thru the mobile phone. I’d like to see that coming.

P.S. Funny, I flagged this post under Web 2.0.

That’s a great prediction – since Pinoys would be in a good position to build “Web 3.0!”

web 3.0 or the next evolution would probably be a lot simpler than what it is now, ie beyond Google

I think one of the feature of web 3.0 is that contents will be in a form of gadget (i believed goog already have gadgetads??) or widget that becomes GPS aware when mobile device is used.

Just imagine, let’s say you’re in NYC, you got your iPhone 3G to check out what’s going on with yugatech blog.. with a GPS aware gadget/widget content you don’t just see ads related to the article keywords but also what’s on sale/promo/activity they’re having on the next block, isn’t that neat!

On a sidenote regarding mobile web.

Have you guys tried http://mowser.com ? It converts any web page into mobile readable layouts. It’s really nice and I think it’s ready to handle Mobile Adsense as well.

P.S. It’s made by Russell Beattie and company.

OT: Uhm is the title right, shouldn’t the word “with” be “will”?

Anyways, another buzzword here, but my thoughts on mobile internet are not that different at all. I just hop mobile browsers do justice to an at the very least xhtml compliant site, and what I imagine would be really useful if mobile devices start reading css and see if there is a portable view css style for a certain site and use it accordingly…
