Here’s another reason why Windows 7 is looking to be a better OS — I installed it on a touchscreen netbook (Gigabyte M912) and worked like a charm.
This netbook was running Windows Vista before it was upgraded to Windows 7. There was definitely some improvement in performance and the Gigabyte m912 was more responsive.
Windows 7 came with a virtual keyboard tool that floats on the desktop so you can just pull it out when you want to input come text. Windows Gadgets for memory monitoring showed 65% RAM usage on idle (for the 1GB installed RAM). I guess adding another 1GB stick would make this tablet run better.

I’m pleased, I need to say. Really seldom do I go through a blog that’s both educative and interesting, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is excellent; the thing is something insufficient people are talking wisely about. I will be very happy that I stumbled across this with my search for something about it.
