YugaTech Contest: Show me your PC, win 1TB!

This is the 1st of a series of 4 contests for the YugaTech-Western Digital giveaways. And as the title says, all you need to do to join is “show me your PC“.

Take a photo of your laptop, desktop or your workstation and share it with us by uploading it online. See below for complete mechanics:

1) Take a photo of your workstation — it could be a laptop, a nettop or a desktop PC.

2) Use this image as the wallpaper of your station when you take the photo (download here). This will allow us to know that the photo is new and/or original.

3) Upload your photo to any photo sharing site (Flickr, Picasa, Twitpic, etc.) or post in your blog or website. The photo must be publicly accessible — not set in private, locked or anything that requires a password or login.

4) Leave a comment in this blog post with the URL to your photo, gallery or blog entry. Don’t forget to go to the WD Philippines Facebook Page and Add/Like them.

So what are we looking for?

The photo should convey the idea “why you need an extra terabyte hard drive” without actually saying/writing it. We’ll be in the look out for the weirdest or cutest or funniest or most creative or most kick-ass workstation. It’s up to you how you shoot the photo.

What we’re giving away this week?

How’s a 1 Terabyte Western Digital Caviar Black SATA 3 (6 Gb/s) sound?

Contest starts today until midnight of August 17, 2010. You have 1 week to submit your entries. We’ll announce the winner on or before Friday that week so we can run the next contest the Monday after.

Note: You can send as many entries as you want, just make sure you leave a comment with the link for each entry you submit. YugaTech and WD Philippines will jointly pick the winner for the week.

You can help spread news of this contest by sharing this on your Facebook wall or post this on your Twitter:

Actually its ok for they have surely reasonssss to tell. But next time be practical with their proposed deadline or what so ever. Because, it show professionalism on how they can cope with their own task on how to fulfill it.

Nino Carandang from WD had an update after Yuga last Aug 24

    Hi Guys,
I’ll announce the top three here on Friday. My apologies for the delay. It’s not easy to weed thru 400+ entries and finally decide on a winner.
Thank you for your patience. More power to Yuga and his fans.
    Nino, WD ”

Obviously you weren’t reading posts Mr. Erick Castillo. Anyways.. Tera Byte had his/her last straw of patience.. hehehe.. lol..

There might be problems with WD picking the winner.. 400++ entries.. not so easy to filter through that…

  4. Matthew says:

When can we expect for the results Seeking anyone from Western Digital to inform us what is happening and why the results keeps on being delayed. It is very unprofessional for a company to not stand with its promise I do hope the results will be out soon

Thank you Yugatech and Western Digital

  5. Major Major says:

Sir Yuga mukhang na bogus ka ng WD ah… while waiting we can play here para bigyan ng bagong pangalan ang WD….

    Walang Delicadeza
    Wait for the Delay
    Word of Discredit
    Will Deny

  6. Kenneth says:

Cool lang tayo mga bro/sis, I think WD personnel in charge of screening did not expect that number of entries (400+). At least may konting pambawi na sila since they announced that there will be additional prizes in addition to the 1TB HD.

Hopefully the next contest they have here in Yugatech mas mapaghandaan nila ang logistics at mga prizes.

Good luck again to all the ladies and gentlemen who joined. :)

  7. Major Major says:

Malamang next time if still sponsored by WD i will think twice if i should spend my time with their mock game.Base on what the’ve said and the result is totally different. I think they dont mind being criticized kc bali wala din sa kanila even the promises they’ve made.

  8. jay says:

mag donate nalang kaya ako sa kanila ng prize na Iomega or lacie? baka wala sa budget nila, Kawawa naman si sir abe, pinahamak ng Worthless Disc maker. Sir Abe, next time make sure the prize/s are with you nalang before starting any contest and give them a deadline to decide who is the winner. Otherwise ako nalang

  9. tipler says:

If you’re serious about criticizing WD, then post using the same handle you used for your entry or continue looking the fool.

  10. Major Major says:

    @tifler

bakit Sir taga WD ka ba? isa ka din sa mga pang gulo…hahahaha…..

yep I agree Sanctuarian06, my goodness indeed. Calm down guys.. it’s not something to quarrel for.. mamaya eh.. mainis si Yuga and cancel the whole thing altogether. WD might have a pretty good reason not being able to post an update.

  14. Matthew says:

it’s almost a week after the promise of Nino Carandang and 2 weeks behind the proposed deadline of Western Digital. I hope my criticism won’t affect my entry and will still be entitled to win

    To Western Digital:

Please don’t keep the members hanging please update us what is happening for many of us are getting bored already. Honestly I visit this page thrice a day just to see if the winners are posted already. I do believe that if us the contestants have a deadline for submission the contest provider must also give a word when he/she will announce the winners

Thank you Expecting a reply from Western Digital Philippines

  15. jay says:

Mr. Nino Carandang is so insensitive and callous after making an announcement on August 24 that he will announce the winner on Friday the 27th of August (he didn’t specify a date but it’s obvious if you are not dumb). September 2 na po FYI! This is a very simple and definitely not a major major contest! This maybe a small promo on their part, but…… oh well….. another one of those delayed or failed promises that we usually hear from trapos. Clearly Yugatech followers/readers are serious people and they expect a lot from the sponsors.

  16. Jamby says:

to think..this is just the First of a series of Four….

  17. Matthew says:

2 weeks after the given deadline. Im sure many users are already losing hope. Yuga, What happened to Western Digital

  18. wally says:

i hope this incident will not end up being featured on tv, like expose` and bayan mo i-patrol mo or emergency, i survived or wish ko lang haha, grabe iniwan sa ere mga followers, ka-simpleng contest lang neto

  19. Nino Carandang says:

    Here’s the contest winners:

Second Prize goes to this entry:

My apologies for the delay, it’s really hard to weed through 426 entries. Try doing for yourself.

Yey!.. Congrats to the winners.. how creative.. I like the on with the Help sign.. hahaha..

@ Nino: some of us do understand. And now since we already have experience of having such load.. Abe and WD can post a more reasonable timeframe next time… there’s always a first so we just tested the waters with this first promo. :D

  21. fuchi says:

    congratulations to the winners…
sana sa succeeding contest manalo ako…:D

  22. Mark Verano says:

Thank you Yugatech and WD Philippines! It’s definitely worth the wait!:D

  23. Jamby says:

    @nino
tnx fr the update…and congrats to the winners.

but..is it really necessary to say “Try doing for yourself” i feel its a bit offensive and sarcastic.

this contest is all about advertising isn’t it?…And clearly, a lot of people were saying and recalling WD for almost a month! So i believe that this is quite an achievement and success on your part. But pls do not tell us that just because there are 400+ entries, e mahihirapan kayong tignan lahat at mamili ng winners..

you will have a hard time choosing if your going to check all the entries by waiting for the deadline,..since you’re the one choosing and (not raffling off) and it’ll depend on your “taste” why not choose an entry everyday if the response to the contest is indeed huge? or choose an entry after 50 posts? or after a 100 posts? then by the end of the contest date, you’ll just have as many as 10 finalists to choose from.

WD is a big company for crying out loud…you should have a system on this. Are you the only one checking out all the entries? WD doesn’t have a team or a dep’t on advertising?

If for example you advertise your product on tv and for the next few days, people start swarming your stores for that particular product..what will you do? Send them away and say “Try doing for yourself.”

I’m sorry guys,..just would like to voice out my opinion.

and oh,,btw, on your august 24 post,,,,…you said Top Three….no second runner up??? And can we know the price of the first runner up?

  24. Jamby says:

i mean prize for the first runner up….:D sorry for the typo….

I sent some questions to Abe regarding the contest, it would have probably helped filter out the entries. read here http://www.yugatech.com/blog/contests/contest-show-me-your-pc/#comment-322983

We have lessons to learn from this contest.

    1. Don’t let participants wait.
    2. Keep your word.
    3. Be specific with the contest rules.
    4. Always protect the welfare of the many
    5. Lastly, don’t allow yourself to be used by companies seeking publicity.

Congratulations to the winners! To Abe, thank you for the opportunity. To WD Philippines, thanks for consoling participants by adding more prizes.

The decision of the organizers of this contest I believe is irrevocable. However, I strongly believe that Mark V’s entry should have won the first slot.

The second prize winner obviously fits the theme “why you need an extra terabyte hard drive”.

My apologies to this entry’s owner, but I don’t get the idea of the first prize winner. I think he has a couple of tv sets there, then a bunch of laptops and desktops. And then printed the WD logo onto sheets of bondpaper. Perhaps WD liked it because they had their logo placed everywhere. Other than that, I dont think the owner of that photo clearly implies “why he needs an extra terabyte hard drive”. Obviously he has a lot of computers to work on. He could perhaps afford a terabyte hard drive. IDK.

To Abe Olandres, please be specific with the contest rules next time. Coordinate with the sponsor. Don’t wait for the sponsor to email you updates.

When you come up with contests, you have to anticipate the worst of the worst. Consider all circumstances.

To Nino Carandang, I disagree with you saying “it’s really hard to weed through 426 entries. Try doing for yourself.” I humbly believe there should have been a better way to explain your side.

It’s like you are saying “kayo kaya magpa-contest, tingnan natin kung kaya ninyo!”. It leaves a very bad impression to your existing and potential customers.

This is actually a learning experience for all of us. As a matter of fact, this contest helped convince myself to really buy a 1 terabyte HDD. I just purchased one for myself this week. I had a good buy for only Php4.500.00. I didn’t buy WD because it was a bit pricier at Php6000.00. I am sure the price tag varies.

Cheers to all! Make love and peace!
