MS Windows: Thru the Years

Listen to article

This is like walking down memory lane. This YouTube video shows all of the logos, sounds, and start-up screens of Microsoft Windows.

Pretty amazing to see how MS Windows, the OS we’ve grown to love and hate at the same time, has evolve thru the years.

I remember the first time I saw and used Windows 95. Warm, fuzzy feeling. My friend who just bought an Acer desktop (486 DX4-100MHz with 540MB HDD and 32MB EDO RAM) showed me Win95 and said “How cool is that Recycle Bin?!!

What’s your most memorable Windows moment ever?

Windows ME has the best boot screen. Hehe.

Nakakaasar ang Vista, walang logo sa boot screen!

My first experience on windows is 3.11 sabi nga ng friend ko nun na system administrator parang DOS na pininturahan. :) Running that with a 386 processor in an baby AT casing and have to install a mathco processor is a headache(paano naman bulok yata binigay sa kin parating sira). Bringing a CPU unit as heavy as a hollow block to the shop and commuting by bus is a pain!

My most memorable Windows moments were booting up a DOS 5.5 or 6.0 with an autoexec.bat file that automatically runs Windows 3.1. Para kunwari Windows 95. Hehehe.

my memorable windows moment is during my computer class in highschool. excel 95 has a secret program when you go to the 95th cell and press something like shift + alt + ctrl and some tech button. then it’ll open up a program called hall of tortured souls where you can see the names of the programmers after you type excelkfa. since i came from a all girls catholic highschool, my teacher freaked out when i opened the program! and that supported the rumor that bill gates is the devil. :)

The Windows NT bootup had this technologically superior aura that lingers in the mind. Computers were taken more seriously back then.
