What is your mobile phone history?

Most of us have owned a number of handsets in the past but can you still remember all of them? I tried recalling my mobile phone history, starting from the turn of the century when Nokia was the king, all the way to the present glory of Android and iOS smartphones. Here’s what I came up with:

mobile-history

The list below are the mobile phones I owned, the year I owned them, and how they ended up after owning them. Some were passed down to me, bought for me and acquired by my own means.

  • Nokia 3310 (2000) – dad smashed it to bits (if I remembered correctly he threw it on the floor three times before it was completely obliterated)
  • Nokia 8250 (2000) – stolen
  • Nokia 2100 (2003) – passed down
  • Sony Ericsson T230 (2003) – passed down
  • Nokia 3650 (2003) – swapped
  • Nokia 6610i (2004) – sold
  • Nokia 6230i (2005) – passed down
  • Nokia 5310 (2007) – passed down
  • Nokia E51 (2007) – passed down
  • Nokia 5800 (2008) – sold
  • Samsung M140 (2008) – passed down
  • Motorola RAZR Maxx V6 Ferrari Edition (2009) – broke down
  • Samsung GT-E1080F (2010) – passed down
  • BlackBerry Curve 9300 (2011) – passed down
  • LG Optimus L3 (2012) – sold
  • iPhone 4S (2012) – passed down
  • HTC One X (2012) – stolen
  • BlackBerry Torch 9860 (Present)

How about you guys? What is your smartphone history? Take a trip down memory lane and list them down the comments section below. Kudos to the person who has the oldest mobile phone.

    I don’t remember exact dates, so…

mid ’90s – Nokia 2010, battery stopped holding its charge
late ’90s – Motorola StarTAC (hated its SMS software), started falling apart
early ’00s – Siemens M35i, bought next phone when Globe offered free GPRS, used it only 3 months, should still be good but needs new battery
early ’00s – Siemens ME45, couldn’t resist Globe’s free GPRS trial, battery stopped losing its charge, and my PIN wouldn’t work (was 100% sure I was entering it correctly)
mid ’00s – LG KU350, won at a “raffle” where everyone won one anyway :), display erratic after I dropped it, still using it for “light” duty
    2011 – LG P500, my current phone
Dec 2012 – Nokia Lumia 710, won at Christmas party raffle, unused, selling :)

I still have all my phones, although the Nokia 2010, Motorola StarTAC, and Siemens ME45 are probably not working.

    Bosch ??? = Nice brand… back then.

3210 = My first Nokia. It was “ASTIG” back then coz’ most people still use Antennaed phones.

5510 = Super unique full Keyboard phone! My first Music Phone. 64MB can hold like 20 songs.

    3310 = Legendary.

3510 = My first colored LCD phone.

3300 = Nice weird looking music phone. 256MBSD card onboard.

6230 -> 6230i = Nice premium looking phone. Also used it mainly for music.

5310 XM = Slim music phone. Nice keypad.

5130 XM = One of the best music phone I used. It’s audio output is still better than most current brands.

5800 XM -> X6 = Both are epic phones. I miss their stereo loud speakers.

Nokia X1 = Basic music phone with great batt.

    Nokia C3 = Cool all-around phone.

Asha 200 = Nice qwerty dual sim phone.

    X6 again.

    Cloudfone Thrill 430x (current)= My 1st droid.

    Nokia 3210 (2000) – I don’t remember if I handed it down to someone

Nokia 3310 (somewhere between 2002-2003) – handed it down to my mom when I upgraded my phone, but she lost it in the supermarket

Nokia 7210 (somewhere between 2003-2004) – My first ever colored phone

Sony Ericsson S700i (somewhere between 2004-2005) – Loved the idea of the swish phone. This one is really sturdy and is still with me (and is still working fine except for battery life issues)

Nexus One (2010) – My first ever Android phone. It got snatched in the MRT a year later and I was really really sad for a while. I went back to using my S700i for a few months until I got my next phone.

HTC Sensation (2011) – I loved the build quality of the Nexus One so I decided to buy another HTC Android phone. Decided on the HTC Sensation because it just came out the time I bought it. It’s still my phone up to now and have no plans of replacing it yet.
