Launched back in December Lenovo’s own line of ultrabook, the Lenovo U300s, is now in stores and selling for a Php55,990 price tag. It took a bit of time for the U300 to be released locally but it’s finally here to offer us more options.

Lenovo U300s specs:
13.3″ LED display @ 1366×768 pixels
Intel Core i5 4667M 1.8GHz
Turbo Boost to 2.9GHz
Intel HD 3000
128GB SSD
4GB DDR3 RAM
Gigabit LAN (10/100/1000Mbps)
Bluetooth 2.1
1 x USB 3.0 port
2 x USB 2.0 port
HDMI output
1.3MP (720p HD) webcam
Intel Wireless Display
4-cell Li-Ion battery (up to 8 hours)
Windows 7 Home Premium
With only a 4-cell battery, I doubt Lenovo’s 8-hour promise is achievable.
At 14.9mm thin, it may not seem as thin as the Macbook Air or the Asus Zenbook since the entire body is flat and does not taper towards the edges like the others. Net weight is also at an impressive 2.9lbs.

With a suggested retail price of Php55,990, it sits right into the middle of the usual price range for ultrabooks.
The U300s is only available in 13.3″ and not the smaller 11.6″ like the one on the Zenbook and the Macbook Air.

Ultrabooks are not game PCs. It’s primary point is speed, lightweight, style & portability. Although video playback is important, gaming is not part of it.
If you want a laptop with a great video card, get a gaming notebook instead.
