Windows 8 Launch, Singapore

Listen to article

Microsoft held the regional launch event of Windows 8 earlier today here in Singapore. Dozens of new PCs, laptops and tablets were showcased in the event that highlighted all of the new features of Windows 8.

Majority of the PC manufacturers were represented here thru their own Windows 8-powered PCs — Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Sony, Samsung and Toshiba. (We’ll talk more about each individual tablets and ultrabooks that we saw here in succeeding posts.)

Here’s a short clip of some footage we took during the live sessions.

The Windows 8 release date is set for tomorrow, October 26 across the Asia-Pacific and the rest of the world. You can download it as an upgrade to your Windows 7 machine, Windows XP or Vista or thru a purchase of a new Windows machine.

Unfortunately, there was no Microsoft Surface in sight. All of the tablets and PCs we’ve seen in the gallery were from 3rd-party partner manufacturers. In two weeks, Microsoft will also hold the Philippine launch of Windows 8.

In simple words, fashion illustration gives a
freedom to the artist to put forward the fashion designs and ideas in front
of the entire world. So, all of them will buy a pair of
beautiful chinese embroidered shoes without any hesitant.

Broadband and problematic stunts are their pastime right now.

Well price doesn’t matter here on our country… a week or two after the official release an exploit version will be release.

already have one from dreamspark premium account, the XBOX Game APPS are good & seamless when after installation. Their actual file sizes from 11mb to 1.2gb so far. if you notice for some win 8 users, fruit ninja & other apps are required to purchase. You can install them first just like on the windows phone 7’s “try before you buy policy”. But the other’s are “free to play”(or “use” for some other non-game apps), all you goanna have to do is to purchase in-store points/privilages to it

They already have a Windows 8 demo booth at SM North Annex Cyberzone. Got to play with some of the PCs with the OS. It’s confusing to move around at first coming from Windows 7.

sooner or later it’s all gonna be touchscreen, it’s the future, better embrace it or be left behind

windows 8 is good, its not that MS is abandoning the keyboard and mouse thing, they just embrace the new world of touch and type, windows 8 is made to operate in touch and type machines as well as with leyboard and mouse.

that’s what I thought… So no improvements on performance or the actual system? Just the UI? :(

If that’s the case, I’m sticking with windows 7, I still like the physical keyboard + mouse… Let PCs be PCs and tablets be tablets! Lol

its just 39.99 USD in the US for the download but for the physical dvd its for 69.95 USD,.it won’t run for clean installation, windows 8 are only for upgrades.

isn’t windows 8 really integrated for touchscreen? My friend had windows 8 installed in his laptop(he got it free in M.S dreamspark) and I must say it’s pretty damn confusing to use. Well maybe because there’s ALOT I say changes from win7 – win 8. just a thought thou.. =D

Agreed… I think they made Windows 8 too much of a tablet OS, it’s practically saying that Microsoft is abandoning the physical keyboard/mouse :(

But aside from the Metro/Windows UI, what else is different in Windows 8? If they used the old interface (with the start button/task bar), would it be just like Windows 7?

I need to know if upgrading to Win8 is worth it XD

The release is global but the media launch is a different event altogether.
