AWEI ES600M In-Ear Headphones Review

AWEI is known for its affordable in-ear headphones with decent sound quality, as we have shown you in our previous reviews. The ES600M, for one, is a product that may want to be your next audio accessory for less than Php300. Is it worthy of your admiration and your purchase?

Design and construction

The ES600M offers itself in a plastic, glossy black housing with flat, matte black cables for a tangle-free experience. Its buds are available in three different sizes with corresponding colors: black, blue, and red. They’re generally comfortable and they stay secured even when you move, but it might be irritating or painful to use after a long time of listening.

It also has a gold-plated standard 3.5mm jack, and includes a leather pouch is also available for good safekeeping, something amiss from audio accessories at this price range. The cord length is enough to put your device at the pockets of your pants. If you’re concerned with handsfree calls, bad news: the ES600M does not have a microphone nor button controls.

I’ve also had a fair share of gripes with it. I find the earbud rubber tips hard to put back after it had detached from the nozzle. The labels printed on the housing differentiating left and right channels may be hard to read for some, as it is small and might need a really good close look.

Sound Quality

Like other ones we’ve reviewed, the ES600M delivers whole, powerful bass. The sound stage is moderately wide, and offers great noise isolation to the point that my colleagues often tap me to get my attention. The highs and lows are really good, but the mids offer a contrast as it gets a bit muddy right there.

Some guitar riffs sound a bit synthesized and a few electronic synths feel a bit aggressive that make them distorted. You might hear too much treble on some tracks which makes it overpowering. Sibilance may resonate on some music genre, but the overall sound reproduction is capable of producing reasonably clear sounds.

Conclusion

For Php280, there’s no denying that AWEI has produced a decently-sounding in-ear headphone that’s great for casual listening in the form of the ES600M. You may not get in-line controls, but the tangle-free cable is a good reason not to snag a pair of these. If you’re all about that bass (and not the overpowering treble), this is a great buy without having to break the bank.
