Android’s Google Now can be used without Internet

We know how useful it is to have digital assistants like Google Now and Siri to help us remember deadlines and research things for us. The problem is, they always oblige you to be hooked up to the Internet in order to deliver data – even data that doesn’t really require you to be online just to view. That changes now as an update is arriving granting access to Google Now even when you’re offline.

What’s happening here is Google Now lets you view offline cards that are of course, not updated to the minute but could still help you in simple daily tasks. When you’re out and there’s no Internet available, relevant cards can still help show you things like where you parked your car or what time your next meeting will be. You just need to be selective of what information you’ll be getting when you’re offline. Using it to search the web is still definitely out of the question.

The update is available for Google Search Android app which is now at the Google Play Store. It already started rolling out but availability is still per location and not at the same time.

To be honest, with the tech right now, you can do a better job of doing these things with your fingers rather than voice recognition..Apps like Siri are just gimmicks for all i care. :)

u kidding? this little gimmick right here can ba the future on how we interact with our gadgets. Combined with an AI, who knows, we may soon be casually talking to our handsets. Watch the movie “her” and you’ll see what i mean.

I said “With the tech right now” it’s still a gimmick. Wake me up when we are at an Elysium levels of tech, but for now…Yeah..These things are just gimmicks. :)

history, temp files, GPS cache can be an issue here. this might take up more space on the memory of the phone. this could just be a “calendar” function if it’s just about reminders. what do you think?
