For a couple of years now, I have been using a number of torrent sites to download stuff — they are mostly TV series or movies I haven’t seen in theaters. I started with MiniNova and then moved on to The Pirate Bay.
However, recently, I have been having problems with Pirate Bay as most of the time the site is not loading at all. I also bought a HD media player (HDX NMT 1000) a couple of months with 1TB HDD because it has a built-in bittorrent client that downloads directly into the device (I no longer need a PC for that).
So now, I have been in the look out for a new torrent search service. At the moment, I am looking at this new one call Kick Ass Torrents. It’s a fairly new torrent search portal but is looking to be a good one.
It’s got a nice, clean design with a web2.0-feel to it and best of all, no annoying ads or pop-up banners. And aside form the usual trackers, there are also direct HTTP downloads for selected files.
The volume of content isn’t very extensive yet considering the site is fairly new. However, I’d settle for this one anytime as long as the current stream of new updates are regular and well-seeded.
I liked the idea that they’ve also integrated IMDB into the system so I can browse around for new movies or TV shows and get some background information about them thru IMDB. I usually find new TV shows to follow using IMDB.
I’ve already downloaded a couple of torrents from the site and so far, they all went down perfectly. If you’re looking for some alternative torrent portal, consider checking out Kick Ass Torrents.

Hi Yuga. You can do even better by signing up with Private portals such as immortalseed or xtremespeeds. When you become a member of such sites you’ll be able to access their growing library of torrents (i especially like their documentaries and updated tv listings) including 720p and 1080p flicks, perfect for your media tank. Downloading time is incredible even for torrents with only a few seeds. All they ask is that you seed back as long as possible.
Torrents are not hosted on their site but by the users themselves. I’m not sure if you can use the ip address of your HDX though, but it is worth a try.

i’ve been using immortalseed for quite some time now… the only thing they require is that you should have a ratio of 1:1 so that your account should not be banned hehe private trackers requires certain ratios except for demonoid

Yuga If you need an invite to the sites i mentioned just email me. Parang nag close na yata sila. I’m quite sure na hindi ka naman yung mga hit and run type. As long as you keep your ratio good then you can be trigger happy.

if you are in search of a torrent site for movies, go to superfundo.org. it has a selection of every rippers available in the internet. if you want to have a 5.1 audio, the best rippers would be rock and flawl3ss. just look for them in the “rippers” tab

wow.. these are really informative post… I’ve it with torrents, since I need to reformat my pc when I accidentally downloaded a virus. I guess it’s not my fault. I should known better than download files without updating my anti-virus… any how… I guess it’s time to try it once more. Before I used bittorrent but that’s where my problem started..

Use rapidshare or Megaupload i hate torrent site ISP throttles the speed here in the philippines. You can search stuff on WAREZ BB the number 1 forum all on RS or Megaupload .

^ even with a high number of seeders, that doesn’t mean that all of them are online and uploading at the moment. nothing beats a private tracker. try it and you’ll know what i mean.

There are far more better private trackers out there if you know where to look eg. Sct,Scc,TL,IPT,RevTT,GFT,BCG,BitMeTVWaffles.fm to name a few. Most uploaders from these private trackers have scene access, meaning as soon as a movie/music/app has been released by any scene group, they have it uploaded within minutes. Also, majority of their uploaders use seedboxes with bandwidth of up to 1Gbps, so there is a guarantee that you’ll finish a 700MB torrent within a few minutes, of course it will depend on your download speed. If you wanna get into the world of private torrent trackers then try here first -> http://www.torrent-invites.com/ . It’ll be hard for new people to get into those trackers but once your in you’ll be glad you did.
