Mainframe Storage Systems Engineer
The Mainframe Storage Systems Engineer administers all aspects of the mainframe storage environment for DASD and TAPE. Responsibilities include mainframe Systems Managed Storage customization, DASD provisioning and reclamation, all aspects of ICF catalog administration and recovery, disaster recovery backup administration, DASD replication administration, DASD and tape maintenance JCL administration, VTOC/VVDS diagnosis and corrective action, assisting users with storage related issues and questions, 24×7 support, tape database administration, tape replication administration, recommend and implement changes to the environment to ensure reliable cost-effective use of all tiers of mainframe storage, maintain and enhance in-house written SAS and REXX scripts, project duties as required to support the business and clients.

As Mainframe Storage Systems Engineer, the candidate will:

* Build, configure and deploy new project infrastructure solutions
* Help select tools and write scripts for the automation of building and standard configuration of equipment
* Understand specific products and related technologies
* Install and help configure software, systems, system tools, and remote access solutions
* Assist in providing estimates of effort, material costs, etc.
* Manage minor issues independently, providing guidance to junior members of the team
* Provide explanations to project teams about standard work performed on their systems
* Research trends in technology for infrastructure, systems, and storage solutions
* Research trends in technology for infrastructure, systems, and solutions
* Understand requirements necessary for prompt response to critical issues
* Assist in the response to proposals, including design and validation of architectures
* Supervise activities for specific areas of service delivery
* Assist Team Lead (Platform-Specific) in defining team direction
* Communicate to project teams regarding the standard work performed on their systems
* Create work plan for major work to be accomplished
* Demonstrate an understanding of the platform, including integration into a larger, heterogeneous environment
* Assist in documenting and reviewing team processes and procedures, and integrates into larger firm processes
* Understand disaster recovery methodologies

REQUIREMENTS:

* Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s/College Degree , any field.
* At least 3 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
* At least 3 years experience in:
o DASD
o TAPE
o Virtual TAPE.
o CF catalog
o JCL
o VTOC/VVDS
o SAS
o REXX
o SMS
