TESDA eyes partnership with Israel in developing cybersecurity training program

Listen to article

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) announced that they are looking to offer a cybersecurity training program, pushing partnership with Israel and will be open to other countries too.

TESDA claims the initiative will be beneficial in ease of doing government businesses and in prevention of cyber attacks.

“Israel has one of the world’s largest networks of cybersecurity professionals. It also offers an advanced cybersecurity training to its citizens as part of the mandatory military training. So this partnership can be very beneficial to the Philippines,” TESDA officer-in-charge Rosanna Urdaneta told Philippine News Agency (PNA).

Aside from Israel, Urdaneta also said they will be open to partnering with other countries in crafting the ‘Cybersecurity National Certification’.

TESDA is already in discussion with its Qualifications and Standards Office, and ICT Office on the proposed Competency Standards, and once approved by the TESDA board, it will take three to six months to train assessors and trainers for the new training program.

“We agreed on a lot of things and we are confident that we will be able to present this to the expert panel and eventually to the TESDA Board within a month,” Urdaneta said.

This adds to already existing information and communications technology- (ICT) related programs TESDA is already offering, mainly Broadband Installation (Fixed Wireless Systems) NC II; Game Programming NC III; Visual Graphic Design NC III; and Web Development NC III among others.
