At the BUILD Conference today, Microsoft showed a much more comprehensive preview of the upcoming Windows 8 OS along with some tablet prototypes, including this 11.6″ Core i5 Slate from Samsung.
Almost all of the early impressions gave Windows 8 and the accompanying hardware some pretty glowing reviews. The Samsung tablet shown here has the same specs as the Series 7 laptop they introduced a couple of weeks ago — Core i5, 6GB DDR3, etc.
Microsoft also showed three other tablets running on various chipset — an Intel Atom processor, a TI OMAP4430 and the quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 Kal El chipset.
Here’s a thorough walkthrough of Windows 8 {via The Verge}:
If you want to take a closer look, you can download a copy of the Developer Edition of Windows 8 here.
Good to see that a lot of features are getting into Windows 8!
nice! gives me a reason to want a tablet
Just installed it.. It put all my current programs to Windows.old folder. Gonna reinstall nanaman. Anyways, it looks good, all your programs are now called apps. Smooth switching modes. I still need to explore since I’ll use this lappy for presentation.. >.<
I’ve installed all my usual work apps and essential toos. it works great and I havent encountered any issues. The install was 15 minutes flat! If I dont see any issues in the next 2 weeks, I’m loading it on my x61 tablet. I’ll let you know how it turns out but if someboady has already done so, share naman ng tips!
I have Win8 on my Rig and it works like magic! Try it, the ISOs are in the devsite.
I’ll be patiently waiting for nokia phones running on windows 8, that would be great!!!!
I wanna try this too! sana di ganun kadami bugs.
this would be a great competitor against other tablets OS’s. Only disadvantage of it is being paid operating system.
After I heard about Windows 8 (Developer Preview), Nag download agad ko from Microsoft Website..
– Malaki talaga deference ng Windows 8 (Dev Prev) compared to Windows 7.
Rate- 10/10… Ang sarap gamitin, kahit sa laptop ko ito sinet-up para na akong gumagamit ng tablet or phone.

I’m planning on trying it too.. But do you how can I uninstall it just in case I’m not impressed? :)
@gian, you can not go back to your previous Os after installing this. Unless, you do a clean instalation again, or you may do a dual boot to make your current os untouched/unharmed.
So that means I have to stay using this developer edition until the official release to keep my files untouched? :))
