6 Best Features of the HTC U12+

HTC recently announced their latest flagship smartphone that packs high-end specs which include a large 6-inch Quad HD+ display, Snapdragon 845 chipset, and quad-cameras – the HTC U12+. It’s a feature packed phone but if you want to know what makes it stand out, read on.

6-inch QHD+ Super LCD 6 Display

One of the first things you’ll notice about the HTC U12+ is its large 6-inch screen with 3D glass. If you’re not fond of the notch then you’ll be glad that it is not present on this device and uses an 18:9 aspect ratio. It also boasts a Quad HD+ resolution for an impressive 537ppi pixel density and thin borders that are 2mm narrower than the HTC U11’s. In addition, it supports DCI-P3 color space, sRGB, color personalization, and HDR 10.

Edge Sense 2 & Pressure Sensitive Buttons

The Edge Sense found on the U11 makes its way back in the U12+ and is now called the Edge Sense 2. In addition to the squeeze feature, HTC added new features like hold and tap. A simple hold can keep the screen the way you want it even when lying down. No more annoying and unnecessary screen rotations or dimming. Double tap on either side for easy one-handed use. Squeeze your phone to take photos, launch voice assistants and bring up Edge Launcher. The physical buttons, on the other hand, are now fixed and no longer mechanical. When pressed it now provides haptic feedback instead of a click.

Quad-Camera Setup

While most flagship smartphones offer dual-rear cameras and a single front camera, the HTC U12+ offers more by having a quad-camera setup consisting of the 12MP HTC UltraPixel 4 + 16MP Telephoto main, and dual 8MP front. It has OIS, EIS, 2x optical zoom, 10x digital zoom, Laser + full sensor PDAF, HDR Boost 2, Bokeh mode, AR stickers, RAW format support, and the ability to record 4K at 60fps and Full HD slow-motion at 240 fps. If you want to know how well it stacks up against the competition, it is currently the second-highest rated smartphone at DxOMark Mobile with 103 points.

HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi Edition Speaker

HTC continues the trend of equipping its phones with good speakers. In the case of the U12+, it has the HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition speaker system with a subtle woofer and tweeter separation design. If you want to enhance the listening experience, you can use the HTC USonic earbuds that are included in the package. It even has Active Noise Cancellation that works automatically. It continuously monitors environmental sound levels and quickly adjusts to compensate for new noises or disturbances.

Liquid Surface design w/ IP68 certification

HTC brings back the Liquid Surface design on the U12+ to give it a unique gloss and vibrant color. They even introduced a new color called Translucent Blue with a delicate color gradient and, as the name suggests, gives you a glimpse of the U12+’s internals. To top it off, the U12+ is IP68 certified meaning it is water and dust resistant.

High-end specs

A flagship phone deserves high-end specs, and the U12+ didn’t fail to deliver. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform, 6GB RAM, and 64GB or 128GB of storage. It also has LTE Cat. 18, VoLTE support, WiFi calling, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, Fingerprint scanner, Face Unlock, 3,500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0, and Android 8.0 Oreo with HTC Sense.

And that sums up the best features of the HTC U12+. We’re yet to know when it will be available in the Philippines, but in the meantime, check out its complete specs below.
