Alcatel has just introduced its new entry-level Android smartphone that can also double as a wearable device, the OneTouch Pop Fit.
The Alcatel OneTouch Pop Fit is a relatively small Android smartphone that features a 2.8-inch QVGA (240 x 320) TFT display, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, 2 megapixel rear camera, 3G internet connectivity, and a splash resistant body.
Powering the device is a dual-core MediaTek CPU clocked at 1GHz, 512MB of RAM, 1,000mAh battery and Android 4.2 Jellybean.
The OneTouch Pop Fit comes bundled with five back covers with different colors, a flip cover, and an armband. It will launch in May with a starting price tag of 89 Euros or almost Php5,500 when converted.
Looks like a Samsung Galaxy Pocket w/out a physical home button. It’s probably being positioned as a semi-disposable phone for joggers, hence the tacky colors, resistance to splashes, and armband. And just enough muscle to run your fave fitness apps.
If this had built-it HRM hardware, this would be a hit with runners/joggers/fitness buffs.
Personally, I don’t get it (right now) why I would wear a phone on my arm. It’s fine when jogging and you don’t have any pockets. But other than that, I wouldn’t wear it anywhere else, like on an MRT station, mall or jeepney.
Awful design.
