Android-powered Lumia smartphone in the works?

A Nokia Lumia smartphone that runs on Android is probably what everyone is longing for. It’s the perfect combination of great hardware and very flexible and powerful OS. And according to @evleaks, this could finally be happening.

According to @evleaks’ tweet, Nokia by Microsoft will finally bring a Lumia smartphone that is powered by Android: “Big news: Android-powered Lumia incoming, from Nokia by Microsoft.”

Unfortunately, @evleaks didn’t provide much info on the upcoming device so we can only hope that he is spot-on as an Android-wielding Lumia is a dream phone to a lot of people especially Nokia fans.

Since we don’t have much information as of the moment, it’s wise to take this with a grain of salt. But if you take into consideration that we already have Android-powered Nokias (Nokia X, XL, X2) and that @evleaks has an impressive resume of accurate leaks, the possibility is there.

I don’t understand why this is good news. Lumia phones work so smoothly because they’re powered by the Windows Phone OS. If they get powered by Android, they’re just going to lag and crash constantly like all other Android phones out there.

Nasa gumagamit yan, hindi sa OS. Every OS is vulnerable to crashes and hangups, Even a car can perform differently depending on its driver, phones are no different. It depends on the user.

Jeff, obviously yung hardware nila now is intended for Windows OS na hindi kasing demanding ng Android. Kung totoo nga ito malamang i-uupgrade din nila ang required specs.

And we all know naman kapag Nokia quality phones talaga. This move could revive their brand.

You know what would be awesome? If we can install Android on the current Lumia phones :-)

Why not. Its the camera function + microsoft services that they’re selling.

Sana wag na yung android X UI nila. Di baleng Sailfish OS na android app compatible wag lang yung sa android X.

If it’s the same lame stripped-down Android fork found on their Nokia X series, I’ll pass.
