ASUS Zenfone 6 unboxed, first impressions

Priced and launched last week together with the Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 5, The ASUS Zenfone 6 is the biggest and most expensive model in the Zenfone family. Although by expensive, we only mean that it is the model with the highest price tag from its group since it’s still quite affordable for its carried specs. Here are our first impressions on the Zenfone 6.

The Zenfone 6 boasts a 6-inch IPS display reinforced with the tough Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It has a large screen real estate at 720p resolution which should make watching movies and playing games a joy. Bezels on the sides are thin but the top and bottom have a bit more extra space in them to house certain functionalities.

The upper bezel is where the sensors, speaker grille for calls, and front-facing camera are all situated, while the capacitive Back, Home, and Active Window buttons are on the bottom. ASUS also designed it to have a circular pattern similar to what we saw with the ASUS Zenbook UX302LA that positively adds to the overall aesthetics of the device.

There are only two physical buttons on the Zenfone 6 and they are present on the right side of the handset. Here, we have the Power/Lock button and the volume rocker.  Up top to the left side is the 3.5 audio jack and down below in the middle is its microUSB port.

Turning it over, you’ll find its 13MP camera right smack in the middle with a single LED flash just below it. The entire back is made of plastic with matte finish and is removable to reveal the dual-SIM and microSD slots. The company’s decision to go with an all-plastic cover is understandable to keep costs low, but they still managed to make it feel and look classy so that’s a plus in our book. In addition, the dotted holes at the bottom is where the speaker pushes off sound.

So far we like what we’re seeing with the Zenfone 6. At 200 grams, the device is pretty light to use for its size. Its physical buttons are also strategically placed so that it can be easily accessed with one hand, while its thin profile makes it easy to slide in and out of our pocket. We’re excited to see its performance on our full review and we bet you are, too. Stay tuned!

Talo ng redmi note ito! Sa size lang at battery lumamang

Oh tapos? May redmi ka ba? Wag kang magkumpara kung wala ka nung mismong unit, nagmumukha ka lang bandwagon niyan ee, and mind you, di ka magkakaron ng redmi or mi3 or whatever if you keep bashing other brands and glorifying xiaomi dumbass

Baka magulat ka kung gaano kaganda performance ng Zenfone. Tsaka labas ka nga ng benchmark proof mo. Sige nga.

6″ display @ 720p lol failed……..HD screen is suitable for 5″ display, modest na nga yung 290+ pixel density pra dun eh

    • Avatar for clark clark says:

PPI is waaay overated. anything around the 240 range or above is perfectly fine. your naked eye in everyday use will never notice the difference. benchwhores will always find a reason to complain. no nfc, panget. no lte, panget. hindi 2k screen, panget. 9mm thickness, ang kapal, panget. XXXXX lang yung antutu, panget. at kung ano2x pang pwede pagrereklamohan. LOL.

I agree with clark on that

    • Avatar for Jaives Jaives says:

Will have to agree with clark too. My tablet is an Asus Memopad which only has 2ppi density. And yet, I have no complaints. Unless idikit ko yung mukha ko sa screen, I can’t see the pixels at all.

What’s so bad with a 720p display @ 6″ and on a quality phone that costs cheaper than your Galaxy Note 2? Either size or pixel density lang naman ang limitation dito to provide quality product at competitive prices eh. Tsaka agree ako kay Clark. Even the 192 ppi of my Xperia Mini looks surprisingly sharp. What more of the 247 ppi of the Zenfone 6?

Some outlets are saying na ang official specs ng Zenfone 6 dito sa atin is Z2580 with 8gb internal while others are saying it’s Z2560 with 16gb internal. Really confused. Ano ba talaga? Hopefully ma clarify ng Asus, really interested sa phone na Ito. :)

    • Avatar for jumpok jumpok says:

for sure 8gb yung official asus, yung hindi blackmarket unit. walang kwenta naman talaga itong zenfone 6. nag increase lang ng 1 inch yung screen mo at the 1000mAh yung battery, almost 5k yung increase ng presyo. LOL.

    • Avatar for Kevin Bruce Francisco Kevin Bruce Francisco says:

Hi Anggulo. We’re using the 8GB variant for the first impressions. :)

    • Avatar for Typical Typical says:

aside from extra inch on the display. dont forget you will get way better photos from its 13megapixel back cam than the zenfone 5’s 8 megapixel. but agreed still expensive, asus should have just sold this in the 9k-10k range.

    • Avatar for Erik Alegre Erik Alegre says:

It’s Z28560 with 16gb internal memory. Confirmed that with ASUS Ph. Better camera din siya

    • Avatar for Jaives Jaives says:

@jumpok – The actual unit their selling will have 16gb instead of 8. procy is 2.0Ghz instead of 1.6. Better camera too. At 12k, their one of the cheapest branded 6-inch phones right now.

    • Avatar for abuzalzal abuzalzal says:

      @jumpok

I’m sure kahit 1 inch lang ang idagdag s tite mo, kahit 10k pa yun eh papatusin mo hahaha
