Cherry Mobile’s latest affordable dual-SIM Android smartphone, the Cherry Mobile Thunder, was launched online a couple of days ago exclusively at Lazada. Now we go hands on to see what this device is capable of. Check out our first impressions after the break.
A lot may see the Cherry Mobile Thunder as an upgraded version of the Flare as it sports almost the same specs except for the larger display and bigger battery. But compared to the Flare, the Thunder looks more appealing thanks to its rectangular shape and smaller curves around the corners. Adding to the attractiveness of the device is the metallic bezel with a dark chrome finish.
Although affordable, the Thunder certainly doesn’t feel cheap. It has a solid build meaning there’s no sign of creakiness and packs a decent amount of heft. Personally, I like the feel of the Thunder and I enjoy holding it. However, the semi-glossy backplate is a fingerprint magnet and the camera design seems overdone for a 5 megapixel shooter.
The entire package costs Php4,999 and in return you’ll get the following specs:
Cherry Mobile Thunder specs:
4.5-inch FWVGA capacitive display (480 x 854 pixels)
1.0GHz dual-core processor
4GB internal storage
microSD up to 32GB
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
5 megapixel rear camera (no flash)
VGA front-facing camera
Li-Ion 1,800mAh battery
Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich
The Cherry Mobile Thunder can be bought exclusively from Lazada. See listing here.
Editor’s Note: We have an exclusive Cherry Mobile – Lazada deal for interested YugaTech readers. You can use this voucher GCV-Sa6R for a Php1,000 discount upon check-up (you can use it for any Cherry Mobile products listed in Lazada and valid until February 23). That means you can get the CM Thunder for only Php3,999 with this voucher.
Updated: Apologies for the confusion. Apparently, the voucher is just one-time use only so just one person can claim it. If you get an invalid notice, that means someone claimed the voucher already.
So, to whoever was the first one to use that voucher, lucky you!
