We’ve got two similarly spec’ed smartphones with similar sizes and built but of different mobile OSes — the HTC Desire HD and the HTC HD7. So why the price difference?
HTC Philippines officially puts the MSRP of the HTC Desire HD at Php35,000 and the HTC HD7 at Php36,900. HTC then allowed resellers and retailers to set their own final price.
HTC HD7 specs:
4.3″ display @ 480×800 pixels

576MB RAM
16GB internal storage

5MP camera w/ dual-LED flash
720p video recording
GPS w/ aGPS support

HTC Desire HD specs:

Li-Ion 1230mAh battery
Android 2.2. Froyo
If we review the specs-sheet, there are a few differences in terms of internal storage, camera megapixel and inclusion of microSD card slot.
Considering that Android OS is supposed to be free and that Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 comes with a premium license fee, it would only make sense that the Desire HD will be selling at a much lower price.
However, I’ve been checking the local stores and turns out the Desire HD is still at the Php34,990 level while the HTC HD7 already went down to Php29,990.
I think it’s all about supply and demand — looks like the Desire HD is the more preferred unit of the two and thus there’s no price adjustments yet for the handset. To make things worse, there’s a huge gap in the supply of the Desire HD.
I’ve been told only 50 units were delivered by HTC Philippines to resellers last December while the rest of the shipments will be coming in this January (another batch of 50 more). Once the new shipments come in, the price should go down a bit and level out at around 30+k while the HD7 will be pushed back a few thousand bucks more.
Link exchange is nothing else but it is only placing

also do similar in favor of you.

@Somnambulist If you are unable to install/transfer apps to your memory card its the fault of the program designer. Froyo above has the ability to install apps on both the phone memory and removable storage. You do not need Apps2SD. My wife has a Desire and she has little problems with newer apps.
San nag iinstall ang apps ng Android phones? Sa RAM ba? I have an HTC Desire (running on Froyo) and I can only install a very limited number of apps due to its memory storage limitations (even with Apps2SD already being utilized).
Awww! Thanks for the correction @ Alexei. My bad. I chose the best HTC phone for me then. Haha!
both phones are great. kahit isa wala ako nyan..
I’ll just wait for the xperia play! hehe.. para kakaiba nman android phone ko.
Wait up for the next wave of phones coming out this February or March. They’re a whole generation better than the current phones in the market.
The Xperia Arc is one of the latest handsets that have leaked even before announcement!
Check it here.

Good point about the warranty. I guess it doesn’t bother me since I’m not a permanent resident of the Philippines. I can’t avail of local warranty anyway..
I wonder if HTC Singapore accepts FedEx-delivered phones for repair? Let me ask.
