We visited one of the distributors of HTC in the Philippines this afternoon to check out which units are on its way to the market. The HTC Desire Z is one of them and we spare no time getting a video to share with you.
We’ve actually posted photos of this unit (in the guise of the T-Mobile G2) which we spotted in Greenhills a couple of weeks ago.
I didn’t really liked it that time but on second look, I think the combination of the sliding full qwerty keyboard and the relative large touchscreen is a good trade-off for the thickness. As usual, pretty good and solid body construction. It feels a little heavy though since some parts of the body are made up of stainless steel.
HTC Desire Z
3.7″ Super LCD display screen @ 480×800 pixels
800MHz Qualcomm 7230 processor
Full QWERTY
1.5 GB internal
512MB RAM
up to 32GB via microSD
HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 2 Mbps
WiFi 802.11n
Bluetooth
GPS w/ aGPS support
FR Radio tuner
5MP camera
720p HD video recording
Android 2.2. Froyo
The qwerty keyboard is very nice and should attract Android fans who prefer physical keyboard over touch screen. The optical trackpad is large and and sticks out from the menu panel.
It’s got the same screen size as the original Desire at 3.7″ and while it’s not AMOLED (Super TFT), there’s no noticeable difference between the two. So is the speed and snappiness of the unit so even if it’s just 800MHz, works just as good as the 1GHz chip.
I’ve been told that the estimated retail price will be about Php33,490 though that’s not official yet.
The local PR of HTC has invited members of the media for the launching of the HTC Desire Z next week (November 23) so we’ll know how much one of these will really sell for. If you’re looking to get reservations, just head on to Top Electronics.
Hi there, constantly i used to check webpage
posts here early in the daylight, since i enjoy to find out more and more.
sir, can you please update me with the authorized distributors for HTC in Philipinnes.. Thanks in Advance.
matibay ba yung hinge nyan? pano yung ribbon?
I’ve been waiting to get this since last month. I must say that HTC’s really the best phone brand right now. The Sense UI, the build, and for the price i got it for (P28,000 from top electronics)…sobrang sulit!
@peter
a lot. It depends on the use. and of course, if you can afford it, why not. Iphones cost way more than just 29k, and how many million units apple sold?
as for me, am using samsung wave. as i am a heavy phone user and I believe the battery is the downside of all HTC phones.

congrats chari,
i wanna ask whether the hing is metal or not.
Got one from Top Electronics! My God this is one awesome phone! I can’t believe how it’s so much better than my old N97!
I’ll buy it. but i’ll wait til it drops below 25k
I just don’t know if there are people who’ll be buying these phones. I will be more practical, I have a cheap nokia 2600 and an asus netbook (equipped with both globe and smart dangles or whatever you call that), that’s enough to get me connected wherever I go in the Philippines.
29k din sa topelectronics.
Definitely love CMK for having such competitive prices.
cmk cellphones advertises this at P29,000
