Huawei Ascend D2 becomes official

Huawei has been making a number of mobile handset announcements during CES this year. Perhaps the most impressive of the lot would be the Huawei Ascend D2 with its 5-inch 1080p display.

Touting a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch, the Ascend D2 packs a full HD 1080p resolution.

Huawei Ascend D2 specs:
5.0 inch IPS LCD @ 1920×1080 pixels, 441ppi
Corning Gorilla Glass
Huawei K3V2 1.5GHz quad-core processor
2GB RAM
32GB internal storage
3G/HSDPA 42Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, dual-band, WiFi Direct, DLNA
Bluetooth 4.0
13MP autofocus rear camera
1080p @ 30fps video recording
1.3MP front-facing camera, 720p @ 30fps
Dolby Mobile Sound
Li-Ion battery 3000mAh
Android 4.1 Jellybean
140 x 71 x 9.4mm (dimensions)
170 grams (weight)

The Ascend D2 looks like it’s IP57 certified since it is dust and water resistant as well. No word on when Huawei will release this device in the country and, considering that they’ve just released the D1 Quad XL last month, we don’t think it will be here anytime soon. Of course, once it does, we hope it will be within the Php18k price tag like the D1.

Taiwan did it, Korea too, now look at them. I can still remember when we bought parts of our bikes, Taiwan made are inferior and cheap now Taiwanese and Korean products are at par with the best in the world.

Chinese products are now showing up with quality and we bash it for what?? I don’t think their product will forever be inferior. most of those who comment here have not tried the device yet and they presume its inferior just because its made in china. Let’s wait for some good review and test before we throw it down the drain.

Listen to Pocketnow Podcast 26. They meet the Huawei People at CES, LAS VEGAS and talk about how annoying the Huawei people are. “Are devices are better than our competitor” Big claims and nothing to back it up.

One function they DID like was the ability to swipe up to hide the “return button, home button” and swipe down to make them appear.

See, that’s china. Talk, talk, talk. Everytime my little kids get a china made toy I shutter. It breaks within 2 hours. CHEAPLY MADE! And don’t for get the tainted baby formula….

I bought the Huawei g600 and ok naman performance. No lags. Doesnt freeze and crash. Di pa masyadong mahal. Hapi ako

I feel sorry for those who are planning to buy this. Yes, the specs are grandeur. But the performance (because of the custom skin) is so laggy. Even the Lumia 610 outperforms it. Search some videos on youtube for living proof!

Excellent replies! Yes the iphone is made in china, but it is not engineered there. Let’s face it. Some of the criticsm is deserved with so many inferior products that are out there. I want so badly for this device to be a great one!
    Thank you

Hindi naman yata basta-bastang company ang Huawei. Yes, it is a chinese phone but it’s branded. Matakot tayo sa mga clones na china phone kasi they don’t have a name to protect, or even some local rebranded phones from unknown OEMs for quality control issues. Mukha namang the likes of Huawei, ZTE and TCL (Alcatel) are okay.

Just bought a ZTE v889. Its dual core and ICS. It hangs and I have to open and close the screen to continue. I just wasted my money. ZTE is a no good brand.

    • Avatar for Arkita Arkita says:

Sorry to hear that, James. Baka something is eating up the RAM. Check your launcher and background apps. Have you tried to play with the development settings in ICS? You can set limit to background processes, I set mine to four. I have a different phone though. Not an expert, suggestion lang baka sakaling makatulong.

    • Avatar for James James says:

Thanks for your suggestion and will try it. I hope it works.

The biggest concern should be: How durable will this device be? How long will it last before the hardware gives out. READ: Made in china, engineered in china…
