LG Prada 3.0 in the flesh, first impressions

LG’s latest fashion-forward smartphone is the superthin LG Prada 3.0. Announced back in December 14, it’s definitely coming to the Philippines soon and we got one of the first few units for review.

The LG Prada 3.0 sports a 4.3-inch TFT screen with Nova Display that’s similar to the one used in the LG Optimus Black. What’s more interesting is that the screen brightness is rated at a high 800 nits (that’s a bit brighter than the 700 nits of the Optimus Black).

The handset follows the Prada design signature that uses a Saffiano pattern at the back panel, a glossy finish with metal accents on the sides.

The Prada branding is all over this phone and the only way you’d figure out that this is an LG handset is from a small, inconspicuous logo that’s molded into the rubber-like back panel.

The LG Prada 3.0 also boasts of a very thin profile at only 8.5mm (that’s exactly the same thin-ness as the Galaxy S2). In the picture above, you’l definitely notice the LG Prada is thinner than the iPhone 4S.

The Android Gingerbread platform is skinned by an intriguing LG Prada UI. It’s basically very close to the Optimus UI but uses a monochromatic theme and icons.

The 8MP camera at the back turned out to be good although I really have to take more shots under different lighting conditions to really see how it performs. The shooter is also able to capture full HD 1080p videos.

Here’s the full specs I got so far and based on the documents that came with the review unit.

LG Prada 3 and Galaxy Note

We’re still not sure about the exact date of release in the Philippines but I am told it will be some time in February. As for the suggested retail price, it’s still not announced but considering is a Prada co-branded smartphone, we won’t be surprised if it will be more expensive.

LG Prada 3 and iPhone 4s

LG Philippines is set to launch the Prada 3.0 in the Philippines this February 7, 2012.

The last time LG co-branded their phone with Prada was in 2008 (the LG Prada 2 then had a slider, full-qwerty keyboard). Watch out for the full review of the LG Prada 3.0 some time next week.

I just have this phone this jan. 26th and sim unlocked by docomo on the same day. the phone is really simple and elegant. perfomance is on par with other duo-core smartphones, screen is very good, response is very good too..only disadvantage is the price (63,000 yen for one time payment).. in fact it is the the most expensive of docomo japan line up this winter 2012 … if you can afford, i suggest to get one, you wont regret it. it is very nice smart phone.. btw, battery life is not bad as other reviews mentioned..

Glad to hear that the smartphone partner of the Optimus Pad LTE Tablet PC launched by LG last January 18 this year will be available in the Philippines the soonest. Can’t wait to see this gadget at the display stands of Philippine gadget stores as am sure it does not fit with my budget. Thanks for sharing this.

You’re basically paying more for the name when it’s just like a single-core Galaxy Nexus. It’s target market are collectors.. and the rich, of course.
