I can understand–though I don’t approve of–the reason why many people don’t like the Philippine map on the back of MyPhone–and it seems the company listened because they no longer put it there on 2014 models (this article having been written last year).
Many Pinoys (actually Asians in general) are very brand-conscious–show-offs, wanna-be’s, ‘social climbers’ as one poster said. And a mobile device seems to be the ‘status symbol’ of choice. Silly, but it is what it is.
People of true class and refinement do not use accessories to telegraph their status–not only is that tasteless, the realm of the pseudo-successful, but it may make them targets for crime.
Not to mention, the truly wealthy do not get or stay that way by going into debt to finance their ‘status symbols’–they look for value for the money, or ‘bang-for-the-buck’, especially when it comes to something like mobile devices.
I myself have encountered reactions like, “Grabe, MyPhone lang!” when some person wondered what brand mine was, then saw the map on the back. I gather that their Sammys and iPhones were bought on utang. I however, pay cash.
I also didn’t bother to tell the shallow imbeciles I have a collection of others–including iPhone, Sammy, LG, Sony, etc. (I’m a ‘geek)…

Good list for Android phone lovers to have. ‘Core’ is performance related issue and it would have been more helpful if the benchmark scores for each phone is also listed. I am afraid that we are all becoming suckers for Specs, Cores, and benchmarks.

  7. Avatar for Freeje Freeje says:

How about a comparison of specs?

  8. Avatar for evollove evollove says:

I think there’s a store in Robinsons Manila that sells the Oppo Find 5 for around 19k.

    • Avatar for evollove evollove says:

      Found their facebook page:
      http://www.facebook.com/iFive.ph

Although I don’t think this counts since Oppo didn’t release the phone officially.

Too bad about the non-expandable 16GB memory …

Kalokohan naman any SRP na nakalagay dito. Sobrang outdated. Note 2 is only 23k now. S3 is 17k

    • Avatar for ivanmoko ivanmoko says:

Kaya nga may SRP on release na nakalagay. kaw naman masyado ka highblood. highblood ba mga ankan mo ? Ok na nga yan nishare mo na price ng S3 highblood ka lang.

    boycott china made products!!!

  11. Avatar for Kiya Kiya says:

How about putting the current price instead of its SRP on release? Would have beem more useful. For example the LG Optimus 4X is only at around 16k-17k for units with official warranty.

    • Avatar for Jon Jon says:

Sana nga current price. Nakakalito yung price, bka ma-mislead ang mga tao.

    • Avatar for Scaf Scaf says:

Srp on release nga e. Marunong umintindi? And it’s a list of quadcore phones, not their current prices.

Remove the Philippines from the back cover of the Myphone A919i Duo and I’ll put it into consideration.

    • Avatar for RON RON says:

Bakit?

    • Avatar for otep otep says:

yes. agree. mas maganda plain lang. or logo. like cherrymobile and star

    • Avatar for Charles Charles says:

@Ron hindi niya naman siguro ikinakahiya sir gusto nya lang ng simplicity at neatness sa isang phone. ikaw kaya lagyan ng mapa ng pilipinas ung kotse mo sa harapan? hahaha peace sir

    • Avatar for GAHNOWN? GAHNOWN? says:

OA na masyado.. it would suffice na man cguro knowing it’s myphone (so yeah, made in rp) and that’s it.. isipin mo lang yung iphone, sony, htc o kung anu mang gadget then may logo ng country san man nagawa? tawa lang

    • Avatar for abuzalzal abuzalzal says:

Oo nga, parang nakaka hiya I display yung myPhone pag walang case…pang bukid yung design sa likod…buti sana kung made in Pinas eh hindi naman….yung mapa lang ang gawang Pinas eh

MyPhone’s design is one of the worst, locally

    • Avatar for Dan Dan says:

Maybe he just wanted it to be removed for convenience. Say for example, if he use it outside, it’s easier to just cover the name MyPhone than cover as well the Philippine map/picture whatsoever. He just wanted it to be removed for convenience of covering up the brand name, because many Pinoys are genuine brand conscious, show-off social climbers. :)

    • Avatar for otep otep says:

easy man. personal pref. lang naman

    • Avatar for mang kan0r mang kan0r says:

ganon??? kung sabagay china made naman at rebranded lang ahahaha.

    • Avatar for jeykoy jeykoy says:

yep i agree.. even the model is rebranded so no point in putting the philippine archipelago on the back..

but make no mistake i love my own country!

Bleh can eat feces. I like the map and it should be there. That’s the magic of myPhone. If myphone.

Besides, that map has helped me countless times when keeping up with appearances. At an English at a Second Language school where i worked in. Several of my students (read: Korean) and fellow staff were astonished at my phone (it was the OG a818), they were impressed at it and wanted to take pictures with me. Note that they were carrying Nexus S, Vega Racers and S2’s. Even an iSheep came and played around with my phone. I let people see the map and let them know that it’s the phone for Pinoys like me and some even want to buy my a818 from my hands. I go to the cafe and let them know if they ask. Anyway, for all the dorks that whine about the map, either wait for myPhone to sell an optional mapless back cover or skin it yourselves.

    • Avatar for Mike Villamejor Mike Villamejor says:

bought my wife “MY PHONE A919 DUO” – cost niya e 6,300.- southmall branch – no issues kung may map ng philippines – ang importante lang naman e ung durability, function and syempre yung price. – opinion ko lang po- tingin ko way of advertisement din ang ginawa ni ‘my phone’ para lagyan ng map sa likod. like kunwari nasa restaurant ka at nag text ka. kita agad na ‘MY PHONE’ gamit mo kasi may MAP sa likod. –

    • Avatar for Bleh Bleh says:

Errybody CALM THE F*** DOWN. It’s my personal preference. It’s not like MyPhone would actually do it. Jesus, I left a short comment and that’s what I’m gonna come back to?
