Nokia announces Lumia 620 WP8 smartphone

Listen to article

Nokia has just announced its newest member of the Windows Phone 8 family, the Lumia 620.

If the Nokia Lumia 920 leads the pack as the flagship and the Lumia 820 as the midrange, the Lumia 620 completes the line up of WP8 smartphone as its entry level device. For starters, the Lumia 620 is a 3G smartphone that sports a 3.8-inch ClearBlack display, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, a VGA front-facing, 8GB of internal storage with microSD support up to 64GB, and NFC connectivity. It is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1GHz, 512MB of RAM, and a 1,300mAh battery.

The best part about this phone is that it only costs $249 or approximately Php10,200 – Nokia’s most affordable WP8 smartphone to date. It will be available in different colors and will ship first in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in Q1 of 2013.

I’m a galaxy note 2 and lumia 620 user. Been with samsung’s galaxy S series since the first one and upgraded to note late last year. I’m a die hard android user BUT there is just something about windows phone 8 that makes it look and feel more polished than android/touchwiz. It just feels more.. “elegant” than the multi-layered apps/icons of android (yes, and widgets). I don’t know but I’m starting to like my 620 more than my note 2.. i just need more apps.. hmm but I need my stylus, too.. hmm..

When I visited the global site of Nokia for the Lumia 920: http://www.nokia.com/global/products/phone/lumia620/ I clicked the ‘availability tab’ and in the Asia Pacific tab, only India, Singapore and Vietnam is listed..and if you clicked on one of these countries, they already have the lumia 620 in their homepage…Does that mean it will not be available here????!!!

That’s probably the case here, they usually post it on their local site with the “coming soon” words if there’s a new phone coming to that country. But I do hope the Philippines is also included. Lumia 620 has the same price as the 610 when it first came out.

Nokia’d most probably price this around 13-15K PHP.

If so, I’d like this as my other phone (with my Samsung Galaxy S2. :D)

Masubukan nga ulit ang Nokia (after 4 yrs).. parang promising ang Nokia 620 at that price point.
