Nokia Lumia 900 Review

The Nokia Lumia 900 represents the best smartphone the Finnish company can muster at the moment. It’s the product of a fresh and promising platform and the decades of Nokia’s handset design expertise. Check out our full review after the break.

Launched in the Philippines back in May 2012, the Lumia 900 is the bigger sibling of the Lumia 800.

We reviewed the Lumia 800 back in February so we were not that much excited with the Lumia 900 since the significant difference is just centered on the display size. Everything else seems to be the same, or sort of.

Design and Build.

The Lumia 900’s gene pool can be traced all the way back to the Meego-touting Nokia N9 which it passed on to the Lumia 800.

While the entire unibody, polycarbonate shell looks like a 100% copy from the previous two handsets, the Lumia 900 got some minor design tweaks.

The one that we noticed first was the flat glass display panel. The N9 and Lumia 800 got a somewhat embossed glass display which spills over to the edge. Nokia says this makes the edge/gesture commands smoother on the N9. In the Lumia 800, it didn’t have any practical function so we thought the one used for the Lumia 900 makes more sense.

There’s also that thin strip of hard rubber/plastic protecting the edge of the glass.

Everything else is looks smooth and solid. We especially liked the white variant that contrasts against the large black display which accents of silver for the buttons.

The glossy finish feels good on the hands but becomes a bit slippery at times and is hugely attracted to grime (especially if you have sweaty or oily hands).

Check out our unboxing video to get a better feel of what we’re describing:

The left side of the handset is where all of the physical buttons are located, all in thin, low-rised silver pellets — the volume control, the power button in the middle and the dedicated camera shutter.

There’s nothing on the left side while at the bottom end, the speaker grills are placed inconspicuously.

At the top side, the 3.5mm jack starts the line along with the noise-canceling mic, micro-USB port and the hidden SIM tray.

At the bottom corner oft he front glass display are three soft buttons that’s standard on all WP7 handsets — Back, Home, Search. At the back is the 8MP camera and the dual-LED flash.

Display

The 4.3-inch AMOLED display of the Lumia 900 looks really good. We’ve seen it perform on the N9 and Lumia 800 but seeing it on a much bigger screen makes you appreciate it more. Picture quality is nice, crisp and bright.

Unfortunately, the Lumia 900 is still stuck at 480×800 pixels. For the most part, you will not really notice this since the tiled layout of Metro UI somehow hides this but once you view photos, videos and browsing websites, you will start noticing the lack of pixel density (217ppi). Nevertheless, for general purposes, the large screen makes up for it.

OS, UI and Apps

Windows Phone 7.5 Mango has definitely brought a lot of improvements and much needed features since WP7 was first introduced a couple of years ago.

There’s support for multi-tasking of 3rd-party apps, Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn integration, SkyDrive, and the much-awaited WiFi-tethering. Where the Nokia Lumia line really excels is their integration of really good features like the Nokia Drive and the Nokia Maps (which replaces Bing Maps) that can work even if you’re offline.

The Metro UI is snappy and refreshing, the UI is simple and easy to get used to but because of the mono-chromatic theme, you can still get confused at times.

The collection of apps in the Marketplace has grown a lot in the past months with majority of the more common ones already available and even already pre-installed and integrated into the platform. The selection of games may not be as updated as the ones on the iTunes App Store or the Google Play Store but you will find a lot of really cool and sometimes even hard core ones with XBox Live on WP7.

We’re also liking the typography and transition effects but the essential features are actually just very simple and straightforward. The virtual keypad are laid out pretty neatly, in large keys fairly spaced from each other and the screen is very responsive.

Camera & Multimedia

The Carl Zeiss optics used in the camera of the Lumia 900 used to be one of the best in the industry. We really liked it back then in February when we first reviewed the Lumia 800.

However, in the past couple of months when new phones have arrived and we got to test their cameras, we realized the new ones have really improved tremendously like the ones on the Galaxy S3 and the Nokia 808.

Here are some sample shots taken with the Lumia 900.

[fancygallery ID=”lumia900″]

Nevertheless, we think the camera on the Lumia 900 still takes a lot of good to great photos as long as you have sufficient lighting.

The handset can also record HD videos, but unfortunately only up to 720p and not full HD (a limitation of the processor).

When connected to your PC, you can manage the multimedia files (music, video, podcast, photos) of the handset via the Zune Player (it’s the software equivalent of iTunes app). Syncing files is very easy and straight-forward, including managing multiple handsets and we loved the Album Art management as well. The Wireless Syncing feature was actually started by Zune many years ago until Apple copied it for iTunes.

Sound quality on the Lumia 900 is decent but not really that great. It’s good though the speaker grills are the the bottom side instead of the back so it’s much louder when you crank up the volume. The AMOLED display works wonders when watching videos and movies.

Performance and Benchmarks

WP7 in itself has a good reputation of being an excellent performer even if it is used with a mid-range hardware. The SnapDragon S2 is actually the top processor that is optimized and compatible with WP7 and we’ve seen it being used in other flagship handsets as well, like the HTC Titan and the Lumia 800.

The Lumia 900 handled the WP7 quite effortlessly. The UI is snappy and the transitions are quick and smooth.

We ran WPBench and got almost similar results with the HTC Titan.

Battery Life and Call Quality.

The Lumia 900, despite its size, manages to squeeze a lot out of its 1830mAh Li-Ion battery. Based on normal use, the handset is able to last 1 and a half days to a little more than two days if you’re mostly using SMS or calls and just a little internet over WiFi.

However, once you switch to 3G or heavy on apps like Twitter or FB, then that’s when you’ll start to feel hungry for more battery life. For the most part though, we generally believe most WP7 handsets are not as power-hungry as the other platforms.

As for call quality, the Lumia 900 offers really clear voice calls and wireless connectivity is also strong. We have not experience any dropped calls with the handset not any loss of signal in the areas where we tested it.

The delays in the SMS we’ve experienced is mostly attributed to the issues with telcos (they tell us it is system upgrades) so we can’t put the blame on the handset for the late text messages.

Conclusion.

The Lumia 900 might not be able to brag about high-performance chipsets that it uses but the combination of Windows Phone 7.5 makes the handset look feel as powerful and buttery smooth as any other flagship running any other OS. We’d say the credit also goes to Microsoft for making WP7 not really hardware-heavy and we’ve seen this in action with the entry-level Lumia 610 and Lumia 710.

Design-wise, the Lumia 900 is just gorgeous with its simple yet elegant construction. It might not get the WP8 when it is released but we are surely excited to see how this will perform and look like once it gets WP 7.8.

Hello! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any issues with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing several weeks of

I’m just going to ask…. I don’t own a Lumia phone but my brother’s office mate told him that Lumia’s hardware is full of junk (recycled hardware from other nokia phones) and he added that in time, the Lumia phones will malfunction blah blah blah….. Is that true?? Did you encounter any malfunctions while using your Lumia handset? Thanks for the answer. :)

Like I said… My initial post was about WP’s pricing to be fair since it has a better overall experience due to it’s integration… Then you come in saying

“You must be out of your stupid mind! Software and Hardware integration? iOS (iPhone) and Android (Galaxy Nexus), don’t they ring a bell?!”

I never said that didn’t have integration… Merely said they don’t have the level of integration WP has…

    And this?

“How could you say that the experience isn’t better on WP when you haven’t even used one for an extended period of time?…” — WHO SAID THIS?

I did… Since it’s obvious that you think WP is inferior to the other platforms… How could you come up with that without even having used the platform?… Just with reviews? surveys? charts?…

    And…

“You claimed that you own Apple products and yet you bash it like you didn’t learn from one idevice and bought another 2. If that is not stupid, then I don’t know what that is. ” — THAT IS 3 one device plus another 2 is 3.

    iPhone 4 = bought and sold… learned from it…

So that leaves me with no iDevice…

So having an iTouch, a 4S and iPad 2 AFTER the iPhone 4 I sold… That leaves me with 3 devices…

iPhone 4, iTouch, 4S, iPad 2 = Total of 4 devices… If you’re going to try and say that what you meant was after getting the iTouch, you can’t as I’ve already cleared up earlier that I did learned from the iPhone 4…

    @Sumatori
Have yet to come up with an S3 that doesn’t exhibit that… Also happen when you bring up Recent Apps… Those issues are with the devices no matter if it just came out of the box, just unlocked, restored… Same with the iPhone… Just trying to bring up Spotlight Search exhibits lag…

Sorry, but your statement about “performance issues” comes up false.

Recent Apps (holding the Home button down) fades in smoothly, with no running background applications, only a clock widget on the homescreen, with a high-PPI 800×480 .PNG background image. This is on my locally-bought, stock-ICS (4.0.3) Galaxy S II.

I currently have two of my friend’s new Globe-issued Galaxy S IIIs that are factory-stock ICS 4.0.4 and they don’t exhibit any delays with the user interface whatsoever.

NOTE: There were issues with homescreen lag on prior versions of ICS (4.0.2 and below), but this has been remidied as of 4.0.3 and 4.0.4.

Spotlight Search comes up smooth with no noticeable lag. This is with no other application running in the background on a 4th generation 32GB iPod Touch on iOS 5.1.1.

    • Avatar for Renan Renan says:

“Recent Apps (holding the Home button down) fades in smoothly, with no running background applications”

I did experience these on multiple devices with or without background apps…

Here’s one of the situations as well when trying to close recent apps…

Leave about 4-5 apps running… Try to scroll through your screens, open up Recent Apps… No issues, then the moment you try to close the apps, that’s when it starts to lag… If it was because of the number of apps open then I should’ve experience issues earlier…

Issues that I’ve confirmed with friends who fancy Android way more than me…

“Spotlight Search comes up smooth with no noticeable lag. This is with no other application running in the background on a 4th generation 32GB iPod Touch on iOS 5.1.1.”

Haven’t used an iDevice that didn’t… Doesn’t matter if the device was just restored or not… Even without background apps…

    • Avatar for Sumatori-kun Sumatori-kun says:

Leave which apps running? This plays a big role, because if you have 4 to 5 GAMES running in the background, then there obviously has to be some slowdown when the cached RAM clears up.

“Haven’t used an iDevice that didn’t… Doesn’t matter if the device was just restored or not… Even without background apps…”

Then please define your “performance issues” more clearly. I cannot see any lag or slowdown that you claim to experience. A slight delay may occur if you swap back and forth between the Spotlight Search and the Springboard rapidly, but that’s not considered normal use unless you’re bored.

Mind you, Windows Phone 7.5 (on a Lumia 610 with 256MB RAM and a Lumia 710 with 512MB RAM) also shows the same symptoms. It’s noticeable if you switch between Internet Explorer (with three tabs open) and the Zune player or between Outlook and Internet Explorer.

No GUI or experience is flawless.

The SRP is way too high for a phone that has mediocre specs. C’mon Nokia, 480×800 pixels 4″ screen? This is your flagship? Not even close to other competitors. Stop boasting about your OS and bring some hardware to the table. Not even worth the price. Better off buying the Galaxy S3

‘ Stop boasting about your OS and bring some hardware to the table. Not even worth the price ‘

Dude, Nokia isn’t boasting about ‘their OS’ because it isn’t theirs in the first place. Its a WINDOWS OS. and Secondly, they DID ‘bring the hardware to the table’ because the Lumia (hardware-wise) is Nokia-built. So they literally brought nothing but pure hardware into that device.

There’s nothing wrong with the price… The overall experience with the phone due to the way the OS is integrated with the hardware is fantastic… Just imagine how iOS and Android devices would be priced if they had those hardware with the kind of OS integration and experience Windows Phone has?… iOS and Android may have phones that has higher specs in almost the same price range but the overall experience isn’t worth the price…

To each his own with the Keyboard I guess since WP has the best KB across all OS platforms today…

What are you talking about? iOS lives and breathes software-hardware integration. Same can’t be said about Android. Apple has always been notorious for being on a ‘closed’ environment, doing everything themselves. hardware AND software.

On ‘OS is integrated with the hardware’ The Lumia isn’t the only Windows Phone. there are also HTC and other OEMs that manufacture phones running windows OS. Microsoft DID NOT create windows phone OS specifically for Nokia.

Android?… The King of Performance issues?… Yeah, the Nexus should be cheaper since it lags like there’s no tomorrow… Even the Quad Core Android devices has performance issues… Even after a clean format on the phone…

Since you mentioned the PH, you should know how the mind of Filipinos work when it comes to these things… Most Pinoys would even go as far as to purchase a International Locked iPhone just to own one… They’d even Jailbreak the phone just to have apps…

Having the option to Jailbreak or Root a device just means there are features missing from the OS itself… That or your after free stuff…

Before anyone goes to the usual arguement of not being able to purchase an iOS or Android device… Used iOS and Android devices in-between the HD7 and Lumia 900…

I have a Galaxy Note and an iPod touch. I like them both and before I used any of the said devices, I owned bazillions of Nokia phones, 5800 being my last Nokia and I have my reasons why I gave up on that (now) crappy brand.

Playing catch-up with Android and WP? Android maybe, but windows phone?!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA You are incredibly stupid suggesting me to do some research. Why don’t you do that yourself.

    • Avatar for Mr. Serious Mr. Serious says:

Typical. Nobody is saying that ANDROID or IOS is the best. I was just pointing out the apparent erroneous statement in your post.

iOS custom makes their software SPECIFICALLY for their hardware and nothing else. They don’t even let others run them with their own hardware. (This is TRUE Integration). They may have taken a lot of heat from others by doing so, and I AM NOT promoting that they are the best due to their methods. I am merely pointing out that you are clearly confused.

Android on the other hand, although they let almost all OEMs give a go with their OS, they still have the Nexus as Kingston pointed out. IT DOES NOT MATTER if there are issues or not (bugs and issues are very common and to be expected. specially in new releases), the main point of the argument is that THEY DO have hardware-software integration.

Making the custom software fit like a glove to a specific hardware is true integration. Windows Mobile OS was NEVER built to fit the Lumia. Hell, they even abandoned ship the Lumia even before a year it was released. Doesn’t that ring a bell to you?

    • Avatar for Mr. Serious Mr. Serious says:

I was actually pretty civil with my first post. I didn’t really bash any handset with that post. I simply pointed out something in your comment. So Im wondering how come your posts are filled with bashing android, ios devices.

How did it came to be that you posted:
‘Apple and iSheep like you always preach about how it’s the best’ I never noticed a post with ‘best’ or anything of the sort. So stop bashing other handsets.

It all comes down to the figures.

Now the Lumia isn’t the only WP7. Like you said the HD7, despite your claim of it’s ‘integration and experience’ the rest of the world seem to think differently. Do you see the WP7’s Smartphone OS sharein the chart? Me neither.

Does it even change anything if Apple designed iOS specifically for iDevices only?… Just because they won’t let other OEM’s use their software means it’s “True Integration”… So what you’re trying to say is that “True Integration” is when you experience performance issues after you Restore the device or even just unlocking it?… Yeah… “True Integration” wherein Apple uses their OS into hardware made by other OEM’s…

I don’t know if Android does allow other OEM’s to tinker with their OS but I believe Google does… The Nexus?… The King of Performance Issues?… An issue or bug or two is normal… Is having performance issues until now still acceptable?… How long has Android been out? Does it even deserve to receive a free pass with the same old issues?… Same goes for iOS…

” the main point of the argument is that THEY DO have hardware-software integration. ”

This made my day… Did you even read what was posted?…

      Here it is…

“The overall experience with the phone due to the way the OS is integrated with the hardware is fantastic… Just imagine how iOS and Android devices would be priced if they had those hardware with the kind of OS integration and experience Windows Phone has?…”

      Wow… As bright as day…

“Just imagine how iOS and Android devices would be priced if they had those hardware with the kind of OS integration and experience Windows Phone has?…”

I never mentioned that iOS or Android had no software-hardware integration… The main point is that the experience with the OS due to the integration is fantastic that the price is not an issue…

And yes… Windows Mobile OS was never built to fit the Lumia… Also was not built to fit the, HD7, Surround, Mozart, Trophy, Titan, Focus, Optimus 7, etc… Because it was Windows Phone OS… Nothing wrong with what MS did to current Windows Phones… Still getting an update… Still a better overall experience as compared to iOS or Android that would either force the update or not get an update at all…

I wasn’t bashing any platform with my post… I was merely pointing out a fact since I did uses the other platforms as well… Any other rebuttal after that is clearly from some fan of either iOS or Android since why would someone deny the fact?…

Thanks for the link but seeing as it’s with the market wherein phones are subsidized, I’d not take it seriously… The proper survey would be from users who has unlocked devices so as we would actually get a proper user experience feedback… Because who cares if the experience sucks if you only got the phone for $99? $199? $299?… Compared to people who has unlocked devices… People that would really think about what they’re buying…

      But since Nielsen is involved… Here’s one…

      http://conversations.nokia.com/2012/07/09/got-satisfaction-lumia-900-owners-delighted-with-their-new-phones/

And yes, I do see the share of WP… Made me wonder how many people on the Android and iOS part of the share got their device due to the same old reasons… Also, need I remind you that Android has a plethora of devices?… But then, even if it was Global then Android would really have a bigger share since you could get one at an affordable price… Catch is the experience sucks… The chart was about the number of devices each OS sold, not in revenue…

It’s just the same here in the Philippines… Majority of the iDevice owners either got it through a Plan, forced Installment or Locked to an Int’l Carrier just so they could say they have an iDevice, that they’re “sosyal” and “in”… Then end up with a Jailbroken iDevice…

Not a problem if you’re a fan of whatever OS, but you need to know the limits… Credit should be given where it’s due…

It always just boils down to one thing with you Renan. Being pasosyal! Installment this, locked on carriers that. Heck, you really don’t get it, buddy and obviously won’t get it in this lifetime.

The truth is, iOS doesn’t even need credits from you as it has already proven its worth. You claimed that you own Apple products and yet you bash it like you didn’t learn from one idevice and bought another 2. If that is not stupid, then I don’t know what that is.

Oh and about those links you just posted, iOS is still number 1 and Android number 2 – or vice versa. I don’t know. What I know is Windows Phones 7.8 is dead. Windows Phone 8 is playing catch-up to Android and iOS I love them both hihihi What a clown!

And you did say that iOS and Android do not have hardware integrated to the OS. Read along and pretend that you don’t care: “Just imagine how iOS and Android devices would be priced if they had those hardware with the kind of OS integration and experience Windows Phone has?…” WOULD BE PRICED IF THEY HAD THOSE HARDWARE… What a frackin’ liar you are, buddy love!

And by the way, if your idea of owning an Apple product elevates ones status hence your constant use of the term “pasosyal,” then that is what you are owning 3. BOOOOOM!

Windows Phone as an OS is ALREADY LATE to the game as is.

I can agree that WP7 has a great UI that is smooth as butter, seamless integration of native apps, etc., but the lack of apps and proper smartphone functionality are what makes it inferior to both the iOS and Android platforms at the moment.

Nokia’s not helping at all with their higher prices as well.

I consider myself lucky that I was able to get the Lumia 610 for free (with Sun Cellular) because I would NOT pay 10k straight for this phone (last I checked in a local Nokia store) when there are more powerful alternatives at the same price.

    • Avatar for Renan Renan says:

If you think WP8 is playing catch up to Android and iOS then so be it… Both platforms still has the same problems it had before… Something that can’t be given a free pass…

“And you did say that iOS and Android do not have hardware integrated to the OS. Read along and pretend that you don’t care: “Just imagine how iOS and Android devices would be priced if they had those hardware with the kind of OS integration and experience Windows Phone has?…” WOULD BE PRICED IF THEY HAD THOSE HARDWARE… What a frackin’ liar you are, buddy love!”

Wow… Seems you’re the one who doesn’t get it… They do have the hardware… They do have integration… It’s the kind of integration that WP has that they’re lacking… Get it?… THE KIND OF INTEGRATION… THE LEVEL OF INTEGRATION… They’re prices are almost the same… It does have hardware… But how about it’s software?… The overall experience?… Just pinch to get an overview of your Home Screens on the S3 causes performance issues… 4S with underclocked CPU and has performance issues as well… It wouldn’t look that bad if they didn’t have those hardware… The device may have all the Cores it wants, but still lags on simple tasks?… WTF is that?…

How could you say that the experience isn’t better on WP when you haven’t even used one for an extended period of time?…

“You claimed that you own Apple products and yet you bash it like you didn’t learn from one idevice and bought another 2. If that is not stupid, then I don’t know what that is. ”

Did you even read the post?… Obviously no since you assumed I purchased another 2 since this is what I said…

“I did own a iPhone 4 and currently have an iTouch, 4S and a iPad 2 lying around here…”

      iPhone 4 = 1 device…

      iTouch, 4S, iPad 2 = that’s 3… not 2…

You were the one assumed I never owned an Apple device… Well I did… And yes, I learned from it that’s why I didn’t purchase another… Any part of the post that I said I purchased those other devices?…

Never was my idea to use a device to elevate one’s (especially my) status… Do you really think that’s not the case with Filipinos?… You could easily differentiate one who’s using and one who’s flaunting… Why would one purchase a device that is locked internationally even if they’re gonna have a hard time with updates?…

    • Avatar for Stephen Kingston Stephen Kingston says:

What “performance issues” on the GS3? The only time you would get any slowdown when you bring up the pinch overview is if you have a lot of running widgets and are using a high-resolution background image, especially if it’s an uncompressed .PNG. If you make it look simplistic like stock Mango’s homescreen, it’ll be just as fast.

The 4S will only have performance issues if one doesn’t properly close apps and ends up having them run as background tasks. This is evident for people who exit apps by hitting the home button.

This Renan guy is not only misinformed but also lying. You can’t own so many Apple products and not appreciate it.

I am now using Andoid from my iphone 4 replacing it with a higher capacity ipod touch and settled with Galaxy Note which is not as fast in terms of UI gesture but it’s brilliant! As I said, I love both. I really want Windows Phone to catch-up as it is a beautiful and functional os but personally, I need apps and the ability to jaibreak or root my device due to a massive support from xda developers. call me stingy, i don’t care.

Now this Lumia device is pretty and fast, but I need more than aesthetic

Oh boy. Fanboy deteted here. What to do when Nokia is having trouble when it comes to survey figures? Create their OWN survey. OR Find a survey from NOKIA.COM. WOW.

After reading through all the past posts, and reading through everyone’s contradiction to your silly posts, it all comes down to one thing; End of thinking capacity.

Renan instead of buying all these gagdets and drowning yourself with your own idiocy, you could have simply invested all those money in better ways.. such as a decent education. (As you CLEARLY lack thereof).

Thanks to you, I was reminded why I abandoned Nokia far earlier before everybody did. (even their recently major partner Microsoft did so.)

      Well, modmyi is reputable… As a repository…

Why the need to Jailbreak/Root?… If not for free apps then tweaks?… Just means that the OS is still lacking…

    • Avatar for Stephen Kingston Stephen Kingston says:

Renan, you still don’t get it. It just all started with pricing and hardware integration now you are again back to your user experience arguF*CK*Nment. Who the hell in this thread questioned Nokia and Windows Phone 7’s beautiful hardware and fluid OS? WHO?! ANSWER IT!

Nokia Lumia 900 is one of the most beautiful phones I have ever seen and tried, ever! Super beautiful nice UI, great functionality. Super popular. Super Smartphone. But I won’t get one! EVER!

“Why the need to Jailbreak/Root?… If not for free apps then tweaks?… Just means that the OS is still lacking…” – something really is wrong with you. The OS is lacking because I allowed my phone to install paid apps for free?!! WTF?! I tweaked it because I can. I tweaked it because it can be tweaked. I tweaked it because I’m stingy otherwise I can pay for the apps!

For heaven’s sake, I might get myself a Windows Phone 8… by Samsung! Not by Nokia which clearly you are a fan of. Never ever with that sorry brand. Beautiful but sorry brand

Seriously, what is wrong with your head?!

    • Avatar for Stephen Kingston Stephen Kingston says:

To end this endless partly brainless argument here is the idea that you misunderstood:

      iOS + iPhone = Integration
Android + Galaxy Nexus = Integration

Both phones are designed and tightly integrated with each OS. May it have bazillions of bugs and other problems, but integrated.

This is to help you understand integration based on your earlier claim that is:

“Just imagine how iOS and Android devices would be priced if they had those hardware with the kind of OS integration and experience Windows Phone has?”

There you go! Why imagine if they exist? I know the prices and they have the same prices if not cheaper than Lumia 900. I know you’ll get back to “OH THE EXPERIENCE IS BAD WITH BOTH AND YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR” argument again but the argument is about integration and price. Read again

    • Avatar for Renan Renan says:

Yeah, it started with pricing, software-hardware integration AND the overall experience…

This was part of my post

“There’s nothing wrong with the price… The overall experience with the phone due to the way the OS is integrated with the hardware is fantastic…”

I clearly stated that the pricing is not a problem since the overall experience is fantastic due to the integration it has… THAT was the argument… Then you guys come in with the other platforms having integration as well… Why the need to open up an argument about the other two having integration?… Did I even mention that they had none?…

“Nokia Lumia 900 is one of the most beautiful phones I have ever seen and tried, ever!”

      Yeah… You TRIED the phone… But…

“But I won’t get one! EVER!”

Just means that you either tested a demo unit or from a friend…

      Yeah you did say this…

“Super beautiful nice UI, great functionality. Super popular. Super Smartphone.”

If that’s your opinion with WP then cool… But why the need to raise an argument with someone who doesn’t have a problem with the price due to the overall experience? Someone who has problems with the way other platforms are priced with the overall experience they deliver?…

“You must be out of your stupid mind!”

Out of the gate insulting people?… I merely posted that the price is backed up by the overall experience… Why so bothered?… You even assumed I was a different person… Assumed I was a fan of Nokia…

Fan of Nokia?… Only reason I got a Lumia 900 was because there still no Int’l Unlocked Titan II available… Sure I could get the Unlocked AT&T one’s… But I don’t really like having a Carrier Logo on my phone…

“something really is wrong with you. The OS is lacking because I allowed my phone to install paid apps for free?!! WTF?! I tweaked it because I can. I tweaked it because it can be tweaked. I tweaked it because I’m stingy otherwise I can pay for the apps!”

Notice the IF in my post?… IF not for free apps then tweaks… If your reason is not for free apps then good for you… If your reason is just for the heck of tweaking then so be it… Tweaks are still for improving the overall experience with the OS, not a bad thing but still a sign that the OS is lacking…

alam mo ba ang JD Power?

      http://allthingsd.com/20120316/satisfaction-thy-name-is-iphone/

so again, performance issues? hindi na bago yan sa mga gadgets pero kung ganyan kataas ang level of satisfaction ng users then may pinagbabasehan sila. kaya ako nagpalit ng phone just so you know, is because i like bigger screen that will not affect my mobility.

bakit kaya nagreboot ang windows mobile at bakit may android… dahil sa iphone whether you like it or not.

God knows what are the reasons why they’re satisfied… There are even a lot of people who are satisfied just because it’s an Apple product… Yeah, they have decent products… But not as perfect as others want to believe and preach… Those people can be part of surverys/studies as well… Do you really think if I was satisfied with the iPhone I would get another Windows Phone?…

They have their reasons as to why they don’t want to try or switch to a Windows Phone… It may be due to the apps… Apps that cater to different people, which is also the case with the other platforms… The number of apps?… Yeah, you may have a plethora of choices for a single purpose, but most of the apps are not even tried and tested… And, yes, I know… One could install as many apps as he/she wants… Because they could right?… Just like your reason with tweaking… Ah, and of course… Brand consciousness… Shunned by society just because you got something that they think isn’t good… Phone that’s being imitated now?… They’re copying from each other… It may have been the iPhone when it first came out… Not anymore…

I’m not trying to be a know-it-all… It just happens I have used all the platforms…

The reason why WP7 lack apps because they patterned their development model to Apple wherein you need to pay $99 annual subscription in order for you to run your developed apps. And that’s a huge blow for indie developers! Heck I won’t pay that much if you’re just testing the waters compared to Google’s One time Payment of $25. Stupid Microsoft they just f*ck*d Nokia for this.

Your comparison is out of place. The nokia Lumia 900 can’t be compared to a Sony Xperia. The Lumia’s polycarbonate body beats any phone out there in terms of style. Its solid unlike the cheap plastics used by sony and Samsung. The Lumia 900’s design even outshines the dull looking iphone. Nokia may look miserable now that is true but Nokia is far from being dead and don’t let the statistics fool you. If you count the number of Phones existing today Nokia brand still tops iphone and Samsung.

The major drawback is the price. Too steep for mediocre specs. Moreover, I also tried typing on the 900 yesterday and I found it quite difficult because of the minimal spaces in between the buttons.

Waiting for a WP 8-Pureview device with a Lumia 900 design.
