Nokia Lumia 925 unboxed, in the flesh

We received a shipment of another flagship phone from Nokia all the way from Europe. It came with a challenge that we put it to a test against other phones in the camera department. That’s how confident Nokia believes their Lumia 925 will trump the competition.

The Lumia 925 is supposedly the better sibling of the Lumia 920, only with an improved chassis and design. It comes with a similar box as the Lumia 920. Right out of the box, the Lumia 925 looks much different though.

It’s thinner and smaller than the Lumia 920 but that’s probably because of the lighter form factor. The aluminum and polycarbonate unibody design looks pretty nice especially with the white color variant. And yes it does feel much slimmer than the bulky 920.

As usual the ClearBlack AMOLED Display is very evident once you boot up the device. The black bezel is also thin and the three WP8 soft buttons are etched at the bottom end.

The backside of the Lumia 925 is flat although the large lens housing of the 8MP camera somewhat protrudes from the center. The dual-LED flash is positioned just above it. The speakers are also found at the back along with 3 metal contact points, probably for a cradle (it’s actually for the removable shell used with wireless charging).

The micro-SIM card slot is found on the top end along with the micro-USB port for charging and 3.5mm audio jack. On the right side is the volume rocker, power button and a dedicated camera shutter button.

Here’s the complete hardware configuration of the Lumia 925.

Nokia Lumia 925 specs:
4.5-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display @ 1280×768 pixels, 332ppi
Corning Gorilla Glass 2
Qualcomm Snapdragon Krait 1.5GHz dual-core processor
Adreno 225 GPU
1GB RAM
16GB internal storage
3G, HSPA+, 4G LTE 100Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, dual-band
DLNA
Bluetooth 3.0
8.7MP PureView rea camera, Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash
1080p HD video (low-light, image stabilization)
1.3MP front-facing camera, 720p video
FM Radio tuner
GPS w/ aGPS support, GLONASS
Windows Phone 8
Li-ion 2,000mAh, non-removable
129 x 70.6 x 8.5mm (dimension)
139g (weight)

The Lumia 925 is definitely the best-looking nd sexiest Lumia handset we’ve ever seen and tested here. We’re interested if that LTE connectivity is compatible with local networks. We’re looking into testing how much battery life one can get with that built-in 2,000mAh battery.

Nokia also sent us a rig to mount the phone on a monopod along with another phone so we’re going to use it in our field test. We’ll definitely share a lot of those photos and videos we’ll get from that camera bench.

Sarap naman niyan. Looking forward to your review/comparison. 16GB lang ba talaga ang internal memory? I read somewhere that Lumia 925 released for the UK comes with 32GB onboard.

the 3 contact points at the back are not exactly for a cradle but as contact connections when you place in the shell for the wireless charging.
