Nokia ships N97 with Car Navigation Kit

Nokia is serious with its push to be make Ovi Maps and their GPS-enabled handsets to be the center-piece of our private cars. This is why they will start shipping selected units of their mobile phones with a free car charger and holder.

That’s on top of Ovi Maps pre-installed on every new handset they roll out the door.

In a short presentation by Nokia reps this afternoon, the handset manufacturer revealed that new units of their Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 Mini will all come with a car kit (charger and cradle — about Php1,500 in value).

Other units like the Nokia X6, Nokia E72, Nokia E52, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia 5230 will also come with a holder you can hook up inside your car. Their prices will all remain the same.

You should be able to get these additional accessories when you buy a new unit starting next week (just look for a newer and bigger packaging). The Nokia N97 is now selling at Php24,200, the N97 Mini at Php21,00, the Nokia X6 at Php18,000, the 5800XM at Php12,850 and the Nokia 5230 at Php7,900.

I called the Nokia store at ATC and they said that only the N97 mini is available priced at P22,990. That’s a P2,000 markup from the price here! Could anybody tell me where I could find these phones at these prices?

Not really familiar with how Ovi Maps works. Is it free to use or do we have to pay for any telco charges? Thanks!
