OPPO F7 Youth Hands-on, First Impressions

OPPO completes this season’s triad of mid-range phones with the official introduction of the F7 Youth, a 6-inch device that sports almost all the same internals as its F7 and F7 128GB siblings, but is missing out on several noticeable features. Here’s our first look at the device.

The design is nothing but reminiscent of its bigger brothers: a tall 6-inch screen, a mirror-like finish, and sharp edges at the sides. One of the main differences is the absence of the rear fingerprint scanner which is a downer since we got one with the F5 Youth. The display is slightly smaller at 6 inches with an 18:9 aspect ratio, and is partly due to the absence of the infamous notch that had been 2018’s biggest trend.

The F7 Youth also brings in the same single-lens setup of cameras, although the front-facing module is downgraded to eight megapixels while still sporting the same AI Selfie Tech found in its siblings.

Powering the F7 Youth is still a MediaTek Helio P60 chip with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. This isn’t much different from the F7, and it is seen when we ran our benchmark tests as the results are close to one another. Take a look at them side-by-side:

Given these, you’d get the better value for money with the F7 Youth as it provides the same power as its F7 sibling — that is, if you’re not keen on physical security features and isn’t fond of the notch trend most companies, including OPPO, have dwelled in their recently-released smartphones.
