Oppo to unveil a 5-inch smartphone with 441ppi

Most of us may not have heard about Oppo, but that may soon change with the announcement made by the Chinese company’s CEO about plans of unveiling a pixel-packed, quad-core smartphone called Oppo Find 5.

The Oppo Find 5 is said to be powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 S4 Pro SoC and 2GB of RAM. As for the crisp screen, the rumored phone’s display is said to be packed with 1920 x 1080 screen resolution which equates to 440.58ppi, a 115ppi better than that of the iPhone 5’s display.

The Oppo Find 5 will run on Jelly bean out of the box and sport a 2500mAh non-replaceable battery. The official launch date and price remains to be told, but we have a hunch that it’s just around the corner and will be roughly the same price as the Xiaomi Mi-Two.

They said the human eye can only see around 300+ DPI. So what would be the advantage of having 400+ DPI? I can only think of the negative implications (battery drain, more cpu / gpu cycles, added costs).

      Exactly what I was thinking!
The human eye cant see the difference screens with 300+ DPI, so why make it higher?

Sorry, but I think it’s all a gimmick to become “better” than the competition. It just doesn’t make sense to compare phones based on just DPI when you can’t even see the difference for yourself =p

Oppo won’t be known unless they’ll release this beast worldwide. It’s your time to shine. Don’t ruin it !
