Blackphone specs as announced:

4.7-inch HD IPS screen
2GHz quad-core processor
2GB RAM
16GB ROM
LTE
HSPA+
8MP camera with flash

Blackphone runs on an Android-based OS called PrivatOS that carries other useful privacy apps including Silent Phone, Silent Text, and Silent Contacts. It has also been preloaded with proprietary apps like Blackphone Security Center, Blackphone Activation Wizard, and Blackphone Remote Wipe.

Having these softwares help users be anonymous when they’re browsing the Internet. But, in order for two people to have encrypted communication between each other, both should be using a Blackphone or at least utilizing Silent Circle’s apps. If not, then it’s just like you’re using an unprotected Android phone.

The Blackphone is now available for pre-orders at $629 (approx. Php28,000). For that amount of money, you’ll have the unit which is open-lined and you can choose for a bundled two-year subscription to either Silent Circle’s privacy apps, a VPN provided by Disconnect, or 5GB worth of cloud storage.

The new incognito phone will start shipping on June 2014.

I don’t get why people would buy this esp bec of its anonymity features. I mean, WHO are YOU in the society that you need to be anonymous all the freakin’ time? Unless you are a creep that does illegal stuff online… oh wait…

What? Just 2 years of Silent Circle Service?

How about protection from Android Malwares? Nada? Oh well.

What a waste of money. I’d still choose BlackBerry.
